To all whom, it may concern:
Be it known that I, CONRAD THOMAS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Baltimore, in the State of Maryland, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in -Door Stops and Holders, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to a device for stopping and holding doors, and is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which-- Figure lis a horizontal section of a wall, doorway,and door,and shows the dooropen and held open by my device. Fig. 2 is a top View, and Fig. 3 is a front view, of the door stop and holder. Fig. 4 is a side View of the same, the base-plate being in section.
The letter A designates the metal base plate, having a screw-threaded boss, b, and holes c, for screws whereby to attach it to the washboard d of a wall. The stop part comprises a metal arm, E, having two angles, f, (see Fig. 2,) the ends g g of which project in opposite directions. One end, g, has a screw-point, b', which is attached to the base-plate by entering the boss thereon. By this construction the projecting arm may be detached from the plate at any time. The stop-arm E extends parallel with the base plate and has a cushion, h, against which the door I abuts. This stoparm prevents the door-knob,or a key that may bein the doorlock,from striking the wall when the door is opened.
The doonholder comprises arubber disk or roller, J, secured to the outer end, g', of the arm in such manner that when the door I is lshown in the drawings.

When the door has passed the roller and is against the stopcushion h, the roller will hold the door open and prevent the wind from blowing it shut. The rubber roller J is preferably secured as is bifurcated, as at Z, and the roller is between the two prongs of the bifurcation and secured by a pivot-pin, m. The bifurcated ends or prongs are broadened and rounded, as at n, and thereby afford better bearing to clamp the roller J.
It will thus be seen that this simple and cheap device has a stop arm and cushion, h, to stop the door and a rubber roller projected in advance of the stop-arm to hold the door.
Having described my invention, I claim and dcsireto secure by Letters Patent of the United States The combined door stop and holder, comprising a stop-arm, E, having two right an gles, f, the ends g -g of which project in opposite directions, a base-plate, A, attached to one end, and a rubber roller, J, secured to the other end, as set forth.
