McNeill 5 7 ABSTRACT Pocket size cosmetic device comprising: first and second vertical hollow cylinders of like length, open at both ends and secured together in size side by side relationship, the diameter of the first cylinder being substantially larger than that of the second cylinder; a lipstick disposed in the first cylinder; first means in the first cylinder including a manually rotatable wheel at the bottom end of the first cylinder to raise and lower the lipstick in the first cylinder as required; a lipstick liner or eye liner disposed in the second cylinder; and second means in the second cylinder including a manually rotatable wheel at the bottom end of the second cylinder to raise and lower the liner in the second cylinder as required.
2 Claims, 4 Drawing Figures POCKET SIZE COSMETIC DEVICE SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION My invention is directed toward a pocket sized device containing lipstick, and at least one or both of lipstick liner and eye liner whereby the user need not carry separate liners and lipsticks in corresponding separate housings. The device is lighter, smaller and less expensive than the combination of separate housings now used.
To this end, I employ first and second vertical hollow cylinders of like length open at both ends and secured together in side by side relationship, the diameter of the first cylinder being'substantially larger than that of the second cylinder. A lipstick is disposed in the first cylinder; a lipstick liner or eye liner is disposed in the second cylinder. First means disposed in the first cylinder and provided with a manually rotatable wheel at the bottom of this cylinder raises or lowers the lipstick as required. Second means disposed in the second cylinder and provided with a manually rotatable wheel at the bottom of this cylinder raises or lowers the lipstick as required. I
If desired a third vertical cylinder can be secured to the first cylinder. The liner not disposed in the second cylinder can be disposed in the third cylinder and can be raised or lowered by the third means in the same manner as described above.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS In the drawings;
FIG. 1 is a vertical cross section of one form of my invention;
FIG. 2 is a view taken along line 22 in FIG. 1;
FIG. 3 is a view taken along line 3-3 in FIG. 2; and
FIG. 4 is aside view of a modification of the structure shown in FIG. 1.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS Referring now to FIGS. 1-4, first and second vertical hollow cylinders and 12 of like length and opposite open ends are secured together in side by side relationship. The diameter of cylinder 10 is substantially larger than that of cylinder 12. Each cylinder has on its inner wall an internal thread shown at 14 and 16 respectively l-Iollow sleeves l8 and 20 disposed vertically in corresponding cylinders 10 and 12 are each open at the top and have external threads 22 and 24 engaging threads 14 and 16 respectively.
A lipstick 26 is disposed vertically in sleeve 18. A lipstick liner 28 is disposed in sleeve 20. Each sleeve has a narrow vertical bore 30 or 32 which-receives the upper end of a corresponding vertical bar 34 or 36. The
bottom of each bar is secured to the center of a corresponding horizontal wheel 38 or 40 disposed rotatably at the bottom end of the corresponding cylinder.
The lipstick or liner can be raised or lowered by appropriate rotation either clockwise or counter clockwise of the appropriate wheel.
As shown in FIG. 4, a third cylinder 42 essentially the same as cylinder 12 can be secured to cylinder 10, oppositely disposed from cylinder 10. An eye shadow liner 44 can be disposed in cylinder 12 and raised and lowered by rotation of wheel 46 using the same sleeve, thread and bar mechanism as employed in the other cylinders. A cover 48 can be detachably secured to the top of the device.
While I have described my invention with particular reference to the drawings, such is not to be considered as limiting its actual scope.
Having thus described this invention, what is asserted as new is:
l. Pocket size cosmetic device comprising:
first, second and third vertical hollow cylinders of like length, open at both ends and secured together in side by side relationship, the first cylinder being of relatively large diameter and disposed between second and third cylinders, the diameters of the second and third cylinders being essentially the same and smaller than the diameter of the first cylinder;
a lipstick slidably inserted in the first cylinder;
a lipstick liner slidably inserted in the second cylinder;
an eye liner slidably inserted in the third cylinder;
first means in the first cylinder including a manually rotatable wheel at the bottom end of the first cylinder for raising and lowering the lipstick therein;
second means in the second cylinder including a manually rotatable wheel at the bottom end of the second cylinder for raising and lowering the lipstick liner therein; and
third means in the third cylinder including a manually rotatable wheel at the bottom end of the third cylinder for raising and lowering the eye liner therein.
2. The device of claim 1 wherein each cylinder has an inner thread and each corresponding means in cludes a vertical hollow sleeve accommodating the item slidably inserted in the corresponding cylinder, the sleeve having an outer thread engaging the inner thread of the corresponding cylinder, each corresponding means including a vertically elongated member rotatable about its axis and secured at its upper end to the lower end of the corresponding sleeve, the bottom end of the member being secured to the corresponding wheel and rotatable therewith.

Claims (2)

1. Pocket size cosmetic device comprising: first, second and third vertical hollow cylinders of like length, open at both ends and secured together in side by side relationship, the first cylinder being of relatively large diameter and disposed between second and third cylinders, the diameters of the second and third cylinders being essentially the same and smaller than the diameter of the first cylinder; a lipstick slidably inserted in the first cylinder; a lipstick liner slidably inserted in the second cylinder; an eye liner slidably inserted in the third cylinder; first means in the first cylinder including a manually rotatable wheel at the bottom end of the first cylinder for raising and lowering the lipstick therein; second means in the second cylinder including a manually rotatable wheel at the bottom end of the second cylinder for raising and lowering the lipstick liner therein; and third means in the third cylinder including a manually rotatable wheel at the bottom end of the third cylinder for raising and lowering the eye liner therein.
2. The device of claim 1 wherein each cylinder has an inner thread and each corresponding means includes a vertical hollow sleeve accommodating the item slidably inserted in the corresponding cylinder, the sleeve having an outer thread engaging the inner thread of the corresponding cylinder, each corresponding means including a vertically elongated member rotatable about its axis and secured at its upper end to the lower end of the corresponding sleeve, the bottom end of the member being secured to the corresponding wheel and rotatable therewith.
