Machlin ABSTRACT The invention relates in general to a materials removal device and more particularly to hand-held scraper devices.
1 Claim, 4 Drawing Figures SAW-TOOTHED SCRAPER An object of the invention is to provide an improved means of paint and other materials removal due to the blade design and position on the handle.
1 Other objects of the invention may be had by referring to the following description and claims along with the accompanying drawing, where:
FIG. 1 shows a plan view of the scraper with the sawtoothed blade attached by a bolt, lockwasher and nut to a handle.
FIG. 2 shows a side view of the scraper device shown in FIG. 1.
FIG. 3 shows a left end view of FIG. 2.
FIG. 4 shows a right'end view of FIG. 2.
With reference to the drawing, the invention is illustrated as being incorporated in a handle 1 which has a double tapered end at 8 and 9. The saw-toothed blade 2 is attached to the handle 1 by a bolt 3, lockwasher 4 and a nut 5, in such a way that the tapered end 7 has an opening 6 between the saw-toothed blade 2 and the tapered end 7. The saw-toothed blade 2 is pushed across the material to be removed at an angle that is fixed within the range of the tapered end 7. The buildup of removed material then passes thru the opening 6 and under the handle 1.
Although we have described our invention with a degree of particularity, it is understood that the disclosure has been made only by way of example and that details in the construction and arrangement of the parts may be changed without departing from the spirit and the scope of the invention as claimed hereinafter.
What is claimed is:
l. A saw-toothed scraper having an elongated handle and a blade having a pitch of 24 teeth per inch and bent near each end at said having a flat bottom surface mounted at an angle of 10 to 30 relative to the axial plane of the handle, said blade being made of a rigid material and used to remove blistered and/or flaking paint and other similar materials.

Claims (1)

1. A saw-toothed scraper having an elongated handle and a blade having a pitch of 24 teeth per inch and bent near each end at 90*, said having a flat bottom surface mounted at an angle of 10 to 30* relative to the axial plane of the handle, said blade being made of a rigid material and used to remove blistered and/or flaking paint and other similar materials.
