The washing basin and the seat washing basin are combined to a single functional unit including a single, joint armature battery controlling the mixing water feed and including a joint water waste for removing selectively waste water from the washing basin and from the seat washing basin, respectively. The seat washing basin includes means for moving the latter selectively into one of two positions, one of the positions constitutes a covered resting position and the other of the positions constitutes a use position.
9 Claims, 4 Drawing Figures PATENTEBFEB 51914 SHEET 2 OF 4 WASHING DEVICE The present invention relates to a washing device for body cleaning and for body care which is usable equally in bathrooms, hotels, hospitals advantageously.
Washing stands and washing basins have been further developed continuously within the last years conceming their shapes and their armatures, so that at the present time a sufficient number of models are available which relate to such washing basins.
Completely differently, however, is the situation with the seating washing basin, which has been left aside in many countries, while in other countries it constitutes a sanitary-technical article of manufacture, which, as a matter of course, belongs to the bathing facility. It has been recognized in the meantime, however, that the seating washing basin is essential for the hygiene and its use contributes essentially to the bodily well being of the human being. The technical and shape forming development of the seating washing basin did not follow yet to this recognition. As a manufacturing material one has retained substantially sanitary porcelaine and one did not depart decisively from the basin forms which are used for an appreciable time. Here are, at least to a great part, the reasons, why in some countries the seating washing basins have been omitted as bathing equipment. This equipment part was too heavy, required too much space in the bathroom, the latter had to be connected with additional feeding and waste pipes in complicated labor to the fresh water hot water and waste water pipe net and made more expensive therefore appreciably any structure. For these reasons the seating washing basin could not brake through to be used for later incorporation in existing buildings, because first of all economical obstacles standing in its way, aside of the fact that the requests by physicians, hygiene-and lodgingexperts have been more urgent for this bathroom equipment.
It is therefore, one object of the present invention to produce a washing facitlity, which provides the sitting washing basin by the new design, technical improvement and by the possibility of economical construction to a greater application in new buildings as well as in old buildings.
It is another object of the present invention wherein the washing basin and the seating washing basin are combined to a functional unit with a single joint armature battery for a mixing water feed selectively into the washing basin or into the seating washing basin, which seating washing basin is movable from a resting position into a use position and vice versa.
The seating washing basin has received by arrangement of this structural unit a new use form with side edges sunk in a saddle-like manner.
In the functional unit in accordance with the present invention the washing basin and the seating washing basin are disposed on top of each other whereby the seating washing basin disposed below the washing basin is swingable from a covered resting position into the use position or is capable of being pulled out or tiltable therefrom and is returnable from the use position back into the rest position. Below the washing basin is disposed a socket which receives the seating washing basin in its resting position and from which it is returnable into the use position either by a swinging movement or running of rollers or by tilting.
Above the seating washing basin is disposed a separately swingable cover, which permits to use the seating washing basin also only as a seating facility or in case of use to provide a deposit device and which closes completely the socket in the resting position.
The seating washing basin itself and the covering can be mounted for swinging out from the socket into the use position and for swinging back into the rest position jointly on a swinging axle or on the water waste pipe, which is disposed within the socket and which serves then as a swinging axle.
In another embodiment within the scope of the present invention the seating washing basin and the cover are pulled out from the socket into the use position and pushed back into the rest position. The seating washing basin runs thereby on rollers and is guided in the socket by means of telescopic rails.
In a further embodiment it is provided to arrange the seating washing basin with the cover for tilting from the socket of the functional unit below the washing basin into the use position and to tilt it back into the rest position.
By the functional unit in accordance with the present invention it becomes possible, to set up washing devices with seating washing basins also at those places, where an individual seating washing basin to be connected to the feeding net separately would not have sufficient space previously. The new use form permits thereby also for older or sick people the use of the seating washing basin. The setting of the water temperature can be made in the washing basin and the mixed water can be fed by operation of a lever into the seating washing basin. Scaldings are thereby excluded, particularly since the hot water feed blocks off in case of no feeding of cold water.
Furthermore it is possible to equip the seating washing basin in any possible combination with dischargeand-rinse-nozzles, additional conduits for the feeding of pharmaceutical or cosmetic preparations and to equip the latter with a dosing container, which can be provided exchangeably on the washing basin.
In the socket of the function unit a pump for emptying the seating washing basin is provided for the case that the waste pipe is disposed too high, which can be the case in already existing buildings, which are to be equipped afterwards with the washing device.
The total functional unit is made of nonthermoplastic cured synthetic material, as polyurethane foam material, or glass fiber fortified, synthetic material with a surface lacquer or surface layer and with foam or finally installed connection pipes. This has as a consequence, that the washing device can be manufactured in large quantities economically, that its small weight for the transportation and for the incorporation is extremely favorable and that the movable seating washing basin can be handled without difficulty. With these advantages the washing device designed in accordance with the present invention closes a sensitive loop hole, which exists still in the area of sanitary hygiene.
With these and other objects in view, which will become apparent in the following detailed description, the present invention, which is shown by example only, will be clearly understood in connection with the accompanying drawings, in which:
FIG. 1 is a perspective total view of the washing device with a swingable seating washing basin and swingable covering;
FIG. 2 is a perspective view of the washing device with a seating washing basin capable of being pulled out, the covering being omitted for the purpose of better demonstration;
FIG. 3 is a vertical section through the washing basin shown in FIG. 2; and
FIG. 4 is a perspective view of the washing device with tiltable seating washing basin, the covering being omitted again for the purpose of better demonstration.
Referring now to the drawings, the washing device designed in accordance with the present invention, comprises substantially a washing basin 1, a socket 2, and a seating washing basin 3 with a cover 30, which elements form a combined functional unit. The washing basin 1 can thereby, as shown in FIGS. 1 and 4 as individual washing basins or it can be designed as shown in FIG. 2, as a double washing basin.
The seating washing basin 3, has side edges 6 sunk-in in saddle like manner.
In accordance with FIG. I, the seating washing basin 3 swings from its resting position 7 below the socket 2 into the use position 8. Likewise the covering 30 is disposed above the seating washing basin 3 in its rest position, so that the socket 2 offers a completely closed picture, one piece swinging out therewith. The covering 30 serves in the shown position, during the use of the seating washing basin 3 as depositing device for different articles. It can also swing completely over the seating washing basin, which offers then a seating facility in front of the washing basin 1.
The seating washing basin 3 and the covering 30 are jointly, however, also individually swingable and are mounted to the waste pipe or on a similar swinging axle. All pipe conduits and armatures are installed ready for connection in the washing device, as it is more clearly described below.
Referring now again to the drawings and in particular to FIGS. 2 and 3 the seating washing basin 3, which is shwon without a covering, is capable of being pulled out from the resting position 7 below the socket 2 into the use position 8 and from there capable of being moved back into the rest position. For this movement rollers 9 are provided on the bottom side of the seating washing basin. Furthermore, a straight line guide takes place by means of telescopic guide rails 10, which are provided at the upper side of the socket 2 and of the seating washing basin 3. By this arrangement a light movement and complete insert into the socket is possible when the seating washing basin is not in use.
The totalfunctional unit is produced as a prefabricated part and with all required feeding pipes and waste pipes as well as with armatures ready for connection. Thus, the cold water pipe 1 1, the hot water pipe 12, the feeder 13 to the washing basin 1, the transition 14 towards the seating washing basin 3 and the waste pipes 15 and 16 are built in.
The cold water pipe 11 and the hot water pipe 12 terminate in the mixing battery 17, which is operated by means of the handles 18. In the mixing battery is disposed an automatic hot water lock for the case, that the cold water feed is interrupted, the water feed rigidly installed in the seating washing basin 3 and the complementary wastepipe 16 are connected by means of a flexible hose 20 and 21 with the immovable pipes 14 and 15, so that they can follow the movements of the seating washing basin.
In the water feeding 19 in the seating washing basin 3, rinse nozzles 22, discharge spray nozzles 23 and douches can be provided in any desired arrangement.
In the case that the joint waste 24 is disposed too high for new equipment in old buildings, a pump 25 is provided in the socket 2, which pump empties forcibly the seating washing basin 3.
The transition of the water feed into the seating washing basin 3 takes place by setting of a lever 26. By this arrangement prior to the use of the seating washing basin the desired water temperature is examined and set in the washing basin 1, with which the water upon operation of the lever 26 reaches then through transition 14 the seating washing basin 3. Scaldings are thereby excluded. The seating washing basin can also, in a slightly deviating embodiment be provided with a narrower front side 5 between which then the saddle like sunk in side edges are disposed.
In the washing device in accordance with FIG. 4 a further embodiment with a single washing basin 1 is provided. In the socket 2 the seating washing basin 3 is tiltable into the shown use position and mounted for tilting inwardly in the resting position.
In the use position the seating washing basin 3 is supported by a support 27 which during the return movement automatically swings in and closes smoothly the socket 2. All pipes as well as armatures are also contained here ready for connection in the functional unit.
All washing devices described above are produced of polyurethane-cured foam material and covered with a layer of synthetic material which is hitand scratchresistant. All inner pipes are finally installed with during the production process. The cost for the structure and for the finishing of the total functional unit are low, in comparison with the expenditures which were necessary for separate washing basins and seating washing basins of sanitary porcelaine under consideration of the required labor for the separate installation.
While I have disclosed several embodiments of the present invention it is to be understood that these embodiments are given by example only and not in a limiting sense.
