- the carrier 10 carries a knife blade 11 which is secured to its periphery and adapted to ,co-operate with female slotting knives to cut slots in corrugated board or similar material.
- an annular slot 12 of T-cross section is secured to the carrier 10 by means of two bolts 13 and 14 respectively.
- the bolt 13 has a head 13a which is located in the base of the slot 12 and a shank 13b which extends outwardly through the slot 12 to pass through an aperture in the blade 11 to receive a nut 15.
- the bolt 14 has a head 14a which is slidably located in the base of the slot 12, a first shank part 14b which extends outwardly through the slot 12 to form a shoulder at its junction with a second shank part 14d of reduced diameter which passes through an aperture in the blade 11 to receive a nut 16.
- the heads 13a and 14a of both bolts 13 and 14 are a sliding fit within the channel 12.
- the blade 11 is firmly gripped against the carrier 10 and locked against movement around the periphery of the carrier.
- the blade 11 is firmly gripped against the shoulder 14c and thereby secured against lateral displacement from the carrier 10 by the action of the head 14a of the bolt 14 lying in the slot 12.
- the blade 11 when it is desired to adjust the angular position of the blade 11 it is only necessary to loosen the nut 15; the blade may then be moved around the periphery of the carrier, the bolt heads 13a and 14a then sliding around slot 12. The blade 11 may be relocked against further movement around the periphery of the carrier 10 by retightening the nut 15.
- FIGS. 4 to 6 inclusive wherein like parts are indicated by like reference numerals, it will be seen that there are two separate knife blades 20 and 21.
- the blade 21 is comprised by separate blade segments 22 and 23 which are each secured to the carrier 10 by means of bolts 13 similar to those illustrated in FIG. 2.
- the blade 21 is fixed and not intended to be adjusted around the periphery of the carrier 10.
- the blade 20 is also formed from two separate blade segments 24 and 25. As in the previously described embodiment the blade 20 is secured to the carrier 10 against movement around its periphery by a single bolt 13, an additional bolt 14 being provided to secure the blade against lateral displacement from the carrier at a position spaced from the bolt 13.
- the construction and operation of the bolts 13 and 14 is the same as described in connection with the previous embodiment, but in this embodiment a support plate 26 is provided and located on the outside of the blade segments 24 and 25, the bolts 13 and 14 extending therethrough so that the two blade segments 24 and 25 are firmly connected with the support plate 26 when the nuts 15 and 16 are tightened, so that the entire assembly is locked against movement around the periphery of the carrier 10 by virtue of the single bolt 13.
- the support plate 26 or the blade itself is provided with a graduated scale 27 and the carrier 10 with a datum line 28 to facilitate proper adjustment of the position of the blade 20.
