[5 7 ABSTRACT A blade interchangeable type razor comprises a body member and a cover member attached thereto, in which the cover is hinged to the body member at a groove provided lengthwise on the inner surfaces thereof. A tapered guide rail is formed between the cover and the body member, and a slider is provided therein so that the lower portion of the razor for holding a blade may be loosened and tightly closed by sliding the slider along the guide rail.
7 Claims, 6 Drawing Figures PATENTEI] KEY 20 I975 SHEET 10F 2 1 INTERCHANGEABLE BLADE TYPE RAZOR This invention relates to a razor, and more particularly to a razor in which a razor blade is interchangeable.
The razor with an interchangeable blade in accordance with the present invention is applicable to a razor blade for barbers use as well as for personal use and can be used as a hair cutting razor as well as a shaver.
In the razor in which the blade is interchangeable, it is highly desired that the blade can be safely interchangeable and simply interchangeable. Secondly, the razor is generally desired to be handled easily and manufactured simply.
This invention provides a'razor with an interchangeable blade in which the above desires are all satisfied in an effective and simple way. The primary object of the present invention is therefore to provide a razor with an interchangeable blade wherein the blade can be interchanged very safely.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a razor with an interchangeable blade wherein the blade can be easily changed with operation of a finger of one hand.
Still another object of the present invention is to provide a razor with an interchangeable blade which can be handled very easily in case of use.
A further object of the present invention is to provide a razor with an interchangeable blade which is of very simple construction and accordingly can be easily manufactured.
Other objects, features and advantages of the present invention will be made apparent from the following detailed description of a preferred embodiment thereof taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawing in which:
FIG. 1 is a perspective view of the main portion of the built up razor in accordance with the present invention,
FIG. 2 is a perspective view of the cover member of the razor in accordance with the present invention,
FIG. 3 is a perspective view of the body member of the razor in accordance with the invention,
FIG. 4 is a perspective view of the slider to be incorporated into the razor in accordance with the invention,
FIG. 5 is an enlarged end view of the slider shown in FIG. 4, and
FIG. 6 is an enlarged bottom view of the slider shown in FIGS. 4 and 5.
Now referring to the drawing, the razor in accordance with the present invention comprises a body member consisting of a handle 1 and a blade holding portion 2, a cover member mounted to said blade holding portion 2, and a slider 17 interposed between said cover 10 and said blade holding portion 2. The cover member 10 and the blade holding portion 2 of the body member are similar in the shape and have grooves 3 and 11 extending lengthwise respectively. The blade holding portion 2 has a cut away portion 7 along the top edge thereof as shown in FIG. 3 and a guide surface 8 is formed thereon with a V-shaped groove 9 extending therealong. The blade holding portion 2 is further provided with a recess 6 below said groove 3 for retaining a leaf spring 5 therein. Said groove 3 is provided with an internally threaded tubular member 4-fixed thereto at a predetermined position.
The lower part of the blade holding portion 2 has a blade mount portion 23 for interposing a blade 22 with the blade mount portion 23' formed on the cover member 10. The cover member 10 also has a cut away portion 14 along the top edge thereof as shown in FIG. 2 and guide surface 15 is formed thereon with a V- shaped groove 16 extending therealong just like the blade holding portion 2 of the body member. Said groove 11 is provided with two tubular members 12 and 13 fixed thereto at predetermined portions interposing said tubular member 4 therebetween when the cover member 10 is mounted to the blade holding portion 2 of the body member. A projection 20 is provided on one end of the tubular portion 13 for insertion into a corresponding hole 3a.
The V-shaped grooves 9 and 16 form a tapered dove tail guide rail between the blade holding portion 2 and the cover member 10. The slider 17 is provided with a wave shaped top surface 24 for facilitating the sliding movement thereof with a finger. The slider 24 provided on the bottom thereof with a dove-tail slider foot 18 having tapered side edges as shown in FIGS. 4 to 6. The said dove tail guide rail formed by the V-shaped grooves 9 and 16 is so tapered for example that the width thereof is smaller on the front side than the rear side thereof so that the blade interposed between the blade mount portions 23, 23' may be more tightly interposed thereby when the slider 17 is slided forward along the guide rail in the cut away portions 7 and 14, and vice versa.
In addition to said projection 20, there is provided with a screw 3b threaded into the internally threaded tubular portion 4 for mounting the cover 10 on the blade holding portion 2.
Further, the reference numeral 21 indicates a hole for insertion of a projection of an interchangeable blade supply case when the blade is interchanged or a new blade is loaded into the razor. This hole 21 can also be used for inserting and removing said screw 3b for assemblying and disassemblying of the razor. The reference numeral 25 shows a leg portion of the slider 17 having the slider foot 18 at the end thereof and sliding in the guide rail 26 between the guide surfaces 8 and 15.
When using the razor constructed as described above in accordance with the present invention, the blade 22 interposed between the blade mount portions 23, 23 is tightly held therein by means of the locking operation of said slider 17 pushed forward and fixed there to keep the blade interposed. When the blade 22 is used up and worn down, the slider 17 is slided backward so that the blade mount portions 23, 23 are separated from each other by means of the leaf spring 5 to release the blade 22. Thus, the blade 22 slips out of the razor. Then the projection of a blade supply case (not shown) is inserted into the hole 21 and a new blade is pushed into the space between the blade mount portions 23, 23 of the razor. Thereafter, the slider 17 is slid forward to tightly interpose the blade between the portions 23, 23' by moving inward the cover 10 against the spring force of the leaf spring 5. Thus, the new blade is loaded into the razor and fixed therein.
Further, as apparent from the above description, the interchanging of the blade can be completed very simply without touching directly the blade. Therefore, very safe handling of the blade interchangeable razor is carried out.
What is claimed is:
l.
