Abstract
In a game machine wherein the image of a road and the images of motor vehicles running on said road can be formed on a screen, there are provided at least one rotatable disc and at least one rotatable ring. The disc and the ring are so arranged that they form an annular space therebetween. Motor vehicle models carried by the disc and/or the ring are disposed in the annular space. A linkage connects a player operated accelerator pedal to an oscillating drive assembly to tilt the disc-ring assembly to produce an illusory effect of banking.

Claims (8)
1. A game machine wherein the image of a road and the images of motor vehicles running on said road can be formed on a screen, such game machine comprising a first rotatable disc carrying a motor vehicle model, a second disc carrying background scenery and mounted coaxially with said first rotatable disc to be disposed downwardly thereof for rotation independently thereof, a first rotatable ring carrying a motor vehicle model and mounted coaxially with said first and second disc to be disposed outwardly thereof, a second ring carrying background scenery and mounted coaxially with said first ring to be disposed adjacent thereto for rotation independently thereof, and a light source for projecting the motor vehicle models onto a screen, said discs and said rings defining therebetween an annular space which appears as a road on the screen, said motor vehicle models being carried such that they are disposed in said annular space.
2. A game machine as defined in claim 1 wherein said first disc disposed upwardly of said second disc carrying background scenery is made of a transparent corrugated sheet material.
3. A game machine as defined in claim 1 further comprising a motor for operating said first rotatable disc carrying a motor vehicle model which is actuated upon turning on of a main switch of the machine, a motor for operating said first rotatable ring carrying a motor vehicle model which is actuated upon turning on of the main switch of the machine, and a motor for operating said second rotatable disc carrying background scenery and said second rotatable ring carrying background scenery which is actuated upon depressing of the accelerator by the operator.
4. A game machine as defined in claim 1 further comprising a motor for operating said first rotatable disc carrying a motor vehicle model which is actuated upon turning on of a main switch of the machine, a motor for operating said first rotatable ring carrying a motor vehicle model which is actuated upon turning on of the main switch of the machine, a motor for operating said second rotatable disc carrying background secenery and said second rotatable ring carrying background scenery which is actuated upon depressing of the accelerator by the operator, and a motor for operating in oscillatory motion the discs, rings and means for operating said discs and said rings as a unit which is actuated upon depressing of the accelerator by the operator.
5. A game machine as defined in claim 1 wherein said motor vehicle model is a painted three-dimensional model made of a transparent or semi-transparent material and constructed to have an open bottom.
6. A game machine wherein the image of a road and the images of motor vehicles running on the road can be formed on a screen, such game machine comprising at least one rotatable disc, at least one rotatable ring mounted coaxially with said rotatable disc and spaced radially outwardly from the circumferential periphery of said disc, said disc and said ring defining therebetween an open annular space in the plane of said disc which appears on the screen as a road, at least one first motor vehicle model secured to and extending radially outwardly from the circumferential periphery of said disc and located in the open annular space in the plane of said disc, said first model having a length which is a minor portion of the length of the annular space and being arranged so that it appears to be travelling in the direction of the annular space, said first model arranged in the annular space with its forward side, rearward side and side located laterally outwardly from said disc spaced from any adjacent surface, at least one second motor vehicle model secured to and extending radially inwardly from the inner circumferential periphery of said ring and being located within the open annular space radially outwardly from the circumferential periphery of said disc and in the plane of said disc, said second motor vehicle model having a lengTh which is a minor portion of the length of the annular space and being arranged so that it appears to be travelling in the direction of the annular space with its forward side, rearward side and side located laterally inwardly from said ring spaced from any adjacent surfaces, and a light source positioned for transmitting light rays through the open annular space so that the only structures located in the annular space are said first and second motor vehicle models for projecting the image of said motor vehicle models on the screen without having the light rays which project the images of said first and second motor vehicle models passing through any other structure.
7. A game machine as defined in claim 6, including means for operating said disc and said ring as a unit, means for moving in oscillatory motion said disc, ring and means for operating said disc and said ring as a unit, said means for moving in oscillatory motion being actuated upon depressing of an accelerator for producing an illusory effect of banking of the motor vehicle to the image of the motor vehicle formed on the screen.
8. A game machine as defined in claim 6 further comprising means for moving said light source relative to the disc and ring, said means being actuated upon operating of a steering wheel by the player.
