Abstract

A base member has a generally flat top surface with first and spaced parallel vertical wells extending downward from the surface. First and second rolls of tape are disposed in corresponding wells and are each rotatable about a horizontal axis. The horizontal axes are parallel. A first cutter for tape is disposed adjacent one end of the first tape. A second cutter is disposed adjacent an opposite end of the second tape.

9/1952 Veison 225/37 3 Claims, 3 Drawing Figures SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION My invention is directed toward a tape dispenser having tape used for wrapping packages and the like wherein tape can be dispensed and cut at either end,
thus eliminating the need to twist or turn dispenser and- /or tape during hurried wrapping activities, particularly in stores or the like.
To this end I provide a base member having a flat or generally flat top surface with two opposite ends. Firt and second parallel spaced vertical wells extend downward from the top surface, each well being disposed adjacent a corresponding end. First and second rolls of tape are disposed in corresponding first and second walls, each roll being freely rotatable about a horizontal axis extending transversely to a center line extending horizontally between the ends. A first tape cutter is disposed at one end adjacent the second well while a second tape cutter is disposed at the other end adjacent the first well.
In use, each roll of tape is used in conjunction with the corresponding cutter, i.e., the first cutter with the first tape and the second cutter with the second tape whereby tape can be dispensed at either or both ends.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS In the drawings:
FIG. 1 is a perspective view of my invention; FIG. 2 is a side elevation thereof; and
FIG. 3 is a top plan of the same.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS Referring now to FIGS. l-3, there is shown a base member having a flat top surface 12 extending longitudinally between two opposite ends 14 and 16.
First and second vertical wells 18 and 20 lying in parallel vertical planes which are parallel to the longitudinal center line of surface 12 are disposed in member 10 and extend downward from the surface. Well 18 is ad jacent end 14; well 20 is adjacent end 16. Each well has a transversely extending enlarged central slot 22.
First and second rolls of tape 24 and 26, each rotatable about a horizontal axle 28, are disposed in corresponding wells with the axles in slots 22. Each roll is freely rotatable in the corresponding well about its axle.
A first tape cutter 30 is disposed on surface 12 adjacent end 16 for use in cutting tape dispensed from roll 24. A second tape cutter 32 is disposed on surface 12 adjacent end 14 for use in cutting tape dispensed from roll 26.
My invention can then be used as previously described.
While I have described my invention with particular reference to the drawings, such is not to be considered as limiting its actual scope.
Having thus described this invention, what is asserted as new is:
1. A multiple tape dispenser comprising: 1
a base member having a top surface which has tw opposite ends, said member having only two spaced vertical wells which are-parallel to the longitudinal centerline of said surface and disposed in said member and extending downward from the top surface;
only two horizontal axles; one for each of said wells and respectfully extending thereacross;
a roll of tape disposed in each well and respectively rotatable about its axle;
aaid wells forming only two respective apertures in said top surface in staggered spaced positions on opposite sides of said centerline, the first of said apertures being adjacent the first end of said top surface, leaving the surface from said aperture to the second end imperforate;
the second of said apertures being adjacent the second end of said top surface, leaving the surface from said second aperture to said first end imperforate.
2. A dispenser as set forth in claim 1, wherein said axles are parallel, and mounted in vertical shallow slots in the opposite sides of said walls.
3. A dispenser as set forth in claim 2, further including a first cutter for the first roll disposed adjacent the second end; and
a second cutter for the second roll disposed adjacent the first end, said cutters being spaced above said axles and secured onto the top of said base member.

Claims (3)

1. A multiple tape dispenser comprising: A BASE MEMBER HAVING A TOP SURFACE WHICH HAS TWO OPPOSITE ENDS, SAID MEMBER HAVING ONLY TWO SPACED VERTICAL WELLS WHICH ARE PARALLEL TO THE LONGITUDINAL CENTERLINE OF SAID SURFACE AND DISPOSED IN SAID MEMBER AND EXTENDING DOWNWARD FROM THE TOP SURFACE; ONLY TWO HORIZONTAL AXLES; ONE FOR EACH OF SAID WELLS AND RESPECTFULLY EXTENDING THEREACROSS; A ROLL OF TAPE DISPOSED IN EACH WELL AND RESPECTIVELY ROTATABLE ABOUT ITS AXLE; AAID WELLS FORMING ONLY TWO RESPECTIVE APERTURES IN SAID TOP SURFACE IN STAGGERED SPACED POSITIONS ON OPPOSITE SIDES OF SAID CENTERLINE, THE FIRST OF SAID APERTURES BEING ADJACENT THE FIRST END OF SAID TOP SURFACE, LEAVING THE SURFACE FROM SAID APERTURE TO THE SECOND END IMPERFORATE; THE SECOND OF SAID APERTURES BEING ADJACENT THE SECOND END OF SAID TOP SURFACE, LEAVING THE SURFACE FROM SAID SECOND APERTURE TO SAID FIRST END IMPERFORATE.
2. A dispenser as set forth in claim 1, wherein said axles are parallel, and mounted in vertical shallow slots in the opposite sides of said walls.
3. A dispenser as set forth in claim 2, further including a first cutter for the first roll disposed adjacent the second end; and a second cutter for the second roll disposed adjacent the first end, said cutters being spaced above said axles and secured onto the top of said base member.
