Abstract

The invention comprises a toy having wheels with a stick projecting rearward therefrom for the operator to grasp to push the toy forward. The toy has a flat front face panel with the silhouette of the upper portion of an animal, and with artistic material on the front face panel portraying the upper portion of an animal. Legs are mounted to the bottom of the panel which ar pumped up and down by the movement of the wheels as the toy is pushed forward.

ZOPF ATTORNEY TWO WHEELED TOY DEVICE This invention relates to toy devices, more particularly, the invention relates to push type toy devices.

It is an object of the invention to provide a novel push type toy device which has a flat front face body portion with pumping legs and with wheels to be pushed forward along the floor.

it is a further object of the invention to provide a novel toy having pumping legs, with the body of the toy simulating an animal such as a cat, and with the body of the toy having a front face with artistic material thereon to portray an animal, with the toy adapted to be pushed forward along the ground on wheels.

It is another object of the invention to provide a novel toy having a stick extending rearwardly therefrom, for the operator to grasp to push the toy forward on wheels, with the toy having a flat front face having the silhouette of the upper portion of an animal, and with legs mounted to the bottom of the panel which are pumped up and down.

Further objects and advantages of the invention will become apparent as the description proceeds and when taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawing wherein:

Briefly stated, the invention comprises a toy having wheels and a stick extending rearwardly therefrom, for the operator to grasp to push the toy forward on its wheels, said toy has a flat front face panel having the silhouette of the upper portion of an animal, with legs mounted to the bottom of the panel which are pumped up and down by the movement of the wheels on the toy moves forward along the ground.

Referring more particularly to the drawings in FIGS. 1 and 2, the cat toy invention is illustrated having a front panel member 21. The panel member 21 has the shape along its outer edges 22 to simulate the silhouette of a cat. A U-shaped wire rod member 23 extends downward from the panel member 21 and with its apex 23' at its lower end and wrapped around a horizontal rod member 24.

25 and 26 are mounted axially to the opposite ends 24' and 24" of the rod 24. A pair of

28 and 29 each forming a cylindrical elongated member which simulate the legs of the animal, with

The front panel member 21 has artistic matter painted thereon along the front face 21' which simulates the

25 and 26 are spaced relatively far apart in relation to the height of the toy to provide good stability for the toy as it is rolled forward so that it does not tip from one side to another.

A stick 50 has its lower end 51 inserted in a bore at the back of the panel member 21, and extends rearwardly and upwardly for a operator to grasp the stick to push the toy forward by means of the stick 50.

As the toy moves forward the wheels which support the toy will rotate through their engagement with the ground cause the legs 28' and 29 to pump up and down in opposing relation to one another.

While the upper panel member 21 is designed to simulate a cat the panel member 21 may have a different silhouette than shown corresponding artistic rather may be placed on the front panel so as to portray other animals.

Thus, it will be seen that a novel toy provided, which provides a novel appearance and life-like when viewed from the front, as the toy is pushed toward the viewer.

It will be obvious that various changes and departures may be made to the invention without departing from the spirit thereof, and accordingly, it is not intended that the invention be limited to that specifically described in the specification or as illustrated in the drawing, but only as set forth in the appended claims, wherin what is claimed is:

1. A two wheeled toy device comprising an upright relatively flat plate member having relatively broad front and rear faces and relatively narrow side edges with said front face facing in the direction of travel of the device, artistic matter along the broad front face of the plate member to simulate the front of an animal, said plate member having its side edges cut to simulate the shape of the head, shoulders, and intermediate portions of the animal, said plate member having a pair of vertically elongated slots extending upward in length along the lower outer side edges of the plate member, a pair of piston like means having theirupper ends slidably mounted in said slots, said piston like means each including a foot member at their lower end, a pair of wheels eccentrically mounted to the lower portions of saidpiston like means and rotatably supporting said device, a central lower support member fixed to the central lower portions of said plate member and extending downward, said wheels being rotatably mounted at their axes to said support member about a horizontal parallel axes to the front face of the plate member, a stick mounted to the rear face of said plate member, whereby an operator may push the device forward by the stick with the wheels rolling forward upon the ground, and with the wheels through their eccentric mounting acting to pump the piston like means up and down in the slots to simulate the rear leg movement of an animal moving forward in an upright manner on its rear legs.

2. A two wheeled toy device comprising an upright relatively flat plate having a broad relatively flat face facing forward with artistic matter material applied to the front face of the plate to simulate the face, upper, and intermediate portions of the body of an animal when viewed from the front, said plate having side edges cut to simulate the head, upper, and intermediate portions of the body of an animal when viewed from the front, said plate having relatively narrow side edges so as to provide relatively little identification as to the animal when viewed from the side, said plate having slots in its lower outer edges in spaced relation to one another, a pair of piston-like elongated rod members simulating the legs of the animal with the upper ends movably mounted in the slots in the plate, a pair of wheels mounted in spaced relation to one another beneath the plate said legs having their lower ends mounted eccentrically to the wheels whereby the rotation of the wheels acts to pump the piston-like members up and down to simulate the walking of an animal when viewed from the front, a stick mounted to the rear of the plate to push the toy device forward with the toy device rolling forward on its wheels, and giving the appearance of an animal when viewed from the front.

3. A two wheeled toy device according to claim 2 wherein such wheels are rotatably mounted about a horizontal axis which is parallel to the front face of the plate.

Claims

1. A two wheeled toy device comprising an upright relatively flat plate member having relatively broad front and rear faces and relatively narrow side edges with said front face facing in the direction of travel of the device, artistic matter along the broad front face of the plate member to simulate the front of an animal, said plate member having its side edges cut to simulate the shape of the head, shoulders, and intermediate portions of the animal, said plate member having a pair of vertically elongated slots extending upward in length along the lower outer side edges of the plate member, a pair of piston like means having their upper ends slidably mounted in said slots, said piston like means each including a foot member at their lower end, a pair of wheels eccentrically mounted to the lower portions of said piston like means and rotatably supporting said device, a central lower support member fixed to the central lower portions of said plate member and extending downward, said wheels being rotatably mounted at their axes to said support member about a horizontal parallel axes to the front face of the plate member, a stick mounted to the rear face of said plate member, whereby an operator may push the device forward by the stick with the wheels rolling forward upon the ground, and with the wheels through their eccentric mounting acting to pump the piston like means up and down in the slots to simulate the rear leg movement of an animal moving forward in an upright manner on its rear legs.
