Description
(N0 Model.)
Patented Jan. 3., 1888.
INVENTOR N, PETERS4 PhawLlwgmphr. washingwn. D4 C.
UNITED STATES PATENT FFICE.
WALTER F. WARE, OF CAMDEN, NEW JERSEY.
SUSPENSO RY BANDAGE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 375,846, dated January 3, 1888.
Appiicannn mea Apr-i1 7, 18er. serial No. 233,987. (No maar 'reference being had to the annexed drawings, making part thereof.
My invention is designed to be used in cases of disease of the human private organs to suspend them, prevent friction with the limbs, and to receive discharges.
It consists, speaking generally, of a bag with a buttoned iap in front and adapted to contain cotton or some absorbent of the matter discharged, and is held up by a strap around the waist of the wearer. Attached to the back of this bag is another and smaller one ot' net work sustained by bands tied or otherwise secured to the main band, which passes around the person of the wearer.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a rear elevation of my device; Fig. 2, a front elevation of the same; Fig. 3, a vertical sectional view showing the iap buttoned.
A is the bag for the penis; B, au opening to receive the latter; C, the front Hap providedwith button-holes D D, the buttons E E being in front ofthe main strap F, the latter being provided with a buckle, G; H, the net-work bag at the back of bag A to receive and sustain the testicles; I, two bauds to be secured to strap H on either side of the bags to sustain bag H; J, a mass of cotton or other material to receive and absorb the gonorrheal or other discharge of the diseased person.
The bags are attached to the person of the wearer as follows: The penis is thrust through the hole B, so as to hang suspended in bag A,
and the testicles are rested in bag H. Strap F is then passed around the waist and buckled in place, or buttoned, if desired, the buckle being preferred, as it will suit dif'erentsized wearers. Bands I I are then passed around the buttocks and tied to the waistbe1t F to hold up the bag H, and the device is affixed. If it is desired to urinate or remove cotton J, the flap C is unbuttoned and allowed to fall down, thus offering free access to the interior.
My .bag A is made of linen or other porous fabric, so that the air will circulate freely through the material. I thus keep the parts cool and allay infiammation and all tendency thereto. p
rIhe old airtight bags made of oiled silk, rubber, Sie., retain the heat and perspiration, thus keeping up an irritation. dispenses with the necessity fortight wrapping, and saves the clothing and bedding from being soiled by the discharge.
In cases of gonorrhea the testicles very frequentlyswell. Itis therefore highly important that the two bags A and H should be used in conjunction.
What I claim as new is-n n l. In a suspension device, the bag A, provided with opening B, front d1'opfiap, C, and waist-strap F, substantially as and for the purpose described.
2. In a suspension device, the combination of bag A, to receive the penis, provided with opening B,and frontdrop*tlap,G,having fastenings E E, bag H, for the testicles, attached to back of bag A, and suspension-bands I I, substantially as for the purposes described. WALTER F. WARE. Wituesses:
