Description

( No Model.)
A. 8: J. MUROHEY & W. LUTTRELL.
. TRACK FOR HAY GARRIERS.
Patented Dec. 20, 1887.
WITNESSES.-
U I? MA UNITED STATES PATENT OFFIC ADAM MURCHEY, JOSEPH MURCHEY, AND WVILLIAM LUTTRELL, OF GUELPH, ONTARIO, CANADA, ASSIGNORS TO THE NEY MANUFACTURING COMPANY,
OF CANTON, OHIO.
TRACK FOR HAY-CARRIERS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 375,089, dated December 20, 1887.
Application filed March 12, 1887. Serial No. 230,500. (No model.) Patented in Canada March 31, 1886, No. 23,737.
To aZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, ADAM MUROHEY, J sEPH MURoHEY, and WILLIAM LU'ITRELL, citizens of the Dominion of Canada, residing at Guelph, in the county of Wellington, in the Province of Ontario, Canada, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hay- Carrier Tracks; and we do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact de- IO scription of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making a part of this specification, and to the letters and. figures of reference marked thereon, in which- Figure l is a view of the track, showing the hangers placed in position for supporting the track and a hay carrier placed thereon. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of aportion of a track, showing the hanger placed in position for supporting the track. Fig. 3 is a perspective detail of the hanger. Fig. 4 is a top view of the track proper, showing it partly in'section.
The present invention has relation to the peculiar construction of tracks designed for hay elevators and carriers; and its nature consistsin providing two pieces of gas-pipe arranged substantially as shown, and in providing a 3 5 v posed, and which are substantially of the form The gas-pipes A are placed in the drawings. parallel, as shown, and are held at the desired distance apart by the hangers B. The hangers B may be substantially of the form shown 40 in Fig. 1, and, as shown, are provided with the hooks a, located at their bottom or lower ends, and are so formed that the said hooks will embrace the gas-pipes A, substantially as shown in Figs. 1, 2, and 3. The hangers B are suspended from the rafters of a barn or other suitable frame-work in any convenient and wellknown manner.
The gas-pipes A are originally formed in sections of any desired length, said sections being attached together until a track of the desired length is formed. The splicing or connecting block or pin C may be substantially of the form shown in Figs. 2 and 4, and, as shown, the center portions of these splicing or connecting blocks C are provided with the screw-threaded portions a, which fit into a corresponding screw-threaded portion in the ends of the gaspipes A.
It will be seen that the screw-threaded portion a and the corresponding screw-threaded portions in the ends of the gaspipes A may be dispensed with and the splicing or connecting blocks C be formed tapering and the gas-pipes driven over said splicing or connecting blocks.
In use the joints of the track proper should be located as shown in Fig. 4, thereby strengthening thetrack.
Having fully described our invention, what we claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The gas-pipes A, arranged parallel with the joints alternating, the connecting or splicing blocks C, and the hangers B, substantially as and for the purpose specified. a
In testimony that we claim the above we have hereunto subscribed our names in the presence of two witnesses.
ADAM MURCHEY. JOSEPH MURCHEY. WM. LUTTBELL.
