AR. HASSBL.
(No Model.)
HAMB lTirer.
No. 874,962. Patented Deo` 20i 1887.
UNITED lSTATES PATENT OFFICE.
RICHARD HASSELOF BURLINGTON, IOIVA.
HAME-TUG.
,SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 374,962, dated December 20, 1857.
Application tiled April 2, 18S?. Serial No. 233.536. (No model.)
T0 LZZ whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, RICHARD HAssEL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Burlington, in the county of Des Moines and State of Iowa, have invented a new and useful Improvementin IfIarne-Tugs, of which the following is a specification. 4
My invention relates to improvements in hame-tugs, in which a body-plate having ele-` vated loops and being further provided with a series of circular holes, each of which, having an upwardly-curved post, operates in conjunction with an eyepiece suitably attached to the end of the trace; and the object of my invention is to furnish a haine-tug which shall keep the trace in a straight line and prevent the eye-piece from rubbing against the leather covering, so that it may be worn with ease.
I accomplish this by the mechanism illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure l shows a view of my plate. Fig. 2 shows the end of the trace provided with the eye-piece. Fig. 3 represents a longitudinal cross-section ofthe plate with the trace in place.
Similar` letters refer to similar parts throughout the several views.
In my drawings, A represents thcplate, having in one end the loop K, by means of which it is connected with the joint G.
. B is an elevated loop, preferably square and situated in the other end of the plate A.
M is a trace which passes through the loop B, as illustrated in Fig. 3 of my drawings.
C and C represent elevated loops on the plate A, into which the straps for the harness pad and bellyband are respectively fastened.
E EX represent a series of curved posts, one for each circular hole in the plate A. It will be seen that these posts are curved irrespective of the side of the harness where the plate is used.
are made use of for the purpose of lengthening and shortening the trace.
H represents a leather -covering underneath the plate A, and is attached thereto by the 5o rivets D and F F.
The operation of my invention is as follows: Thejoint G is fastened in suitable manner to the haine of an ordinary harness. To joiutG the plate A is fastened through loop K. Then 55 the plate A is furthermore fastened by means of the loops C and C to the straps of the harness-pad and belly-band, respectively. Thereupon the trace M, provided with the eye-piece I in one end, is in this end passed through the 6o loop B, and the eye-piece I is hooked over one of the'seres of posts E contained in the holes of the plate A, whereby the trace is fastened to the plate A. I am aware that heretofore llame-tugs have been made with a body-plate 65 operating in conjunction With fastenings attached to this trace. I therefore do not claim such combination, broadly.
What I do claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is- 7o l. In a haine-tug, aplate, A, having the elevated loops B and C C and provided with a series of holes, each of which has a curvedpost, E, substantially as and for the purpose herein set forth.
2. In a haine-tug, a plate, A, having the elevated loops B and C C and provided with a series of holes, each of which -has a curved post, E, in combination with a trace at its one end provided with an eyepiece, I, snbstan- 8o tially as and for the purpose herein set forth.
3. A haine-tug comprising the joint G and the plate A, having loops K B and G C, and a series of holes provided with the post E and the trace M, having the eye-piece I, all sub 85 stantially as and forthe purpose herein set forth.
