2 Claims, 4 Drawing Figures l NECKTIE WITH CONCEALED POCKET BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION tional garments, many of which locations are now generally known, and such prior garment constructions have usually required relatively time-comsuming, cumbersome or tedious procedures both in concealing and removing.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION It is, therefore, an important object of the present invention to provide a unique and highly improved garment construction wherein a necktie is provided with a hidden pocket or compartment for concealment of the contents of such pocket while affording quick and convenient access for placement and removal of the pocket contents.
It is still another object of the present invention to provide a necktie construction which overcomesv the above-mentioned difficulties, being extremely simple in structure and economic to manufacture, uniquely concealing and deceptive as to its location, and which affords maximum convenience for placement and removal of contents with respect to the hidden pocket.
Other objects of the present invention will become apparent upon reading the following specification and referring to the accompanying drawings, which form a material part of this disclosure.
The invention accordingly consists in the features of construction, combinations of elements, and arrangements of parts, which will be exemplified in the construction hereinafter described, and of which the scope will be indicated by the appended claims.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS Referring now more particularly to the drawings, and specifically to FIGS. 1-3 thereof, a four-in-hand necktie is there generally designated and, in the instant embodiment, is of an unlined type four-in-hand tie construction. Of course, the necktie of the present invention may be lined, as will appear more fully hereinafter, without departing from the teachings of the instant invention, and may assume configurations other than that illustrated.
Considering FIGS. l3 more specifically, the four-inhand necktie 10 includes a front wall 11, which is the exposed wall of the necktie when in use on the person of a wearer. Specifically, the outer or front face of the front wall 11 is exposed, while the inner or back face is concealed, facing toward the wearer.
Additionally, the necktie 10 includes a pair of back walls 12 and 13 respectively extending laterally inwardly from opposite sides or side edges of the front wall 11. That is, the back walls 12 and 13 extend inwardly toward each other, and in the illustrated embodiment are partially overlapping. I
Formed on and carried by one of the back walls 12 is one or more concealed receptacles or pockets, as at 15 and 16. In the illustrated embodiment, the pockets l5 and 16 are arranged in a generally vertical row, the latter being above the former, and may each be of a suitable size as for containing theater tickets, transpor- 'tation tickets, identifying cards, or other.
The pockets l5 and 16 may be essentially identical, but they differ in shape and size, as shown, so that a detailed description of one will suffice.
The pocket 15 includes a generally rectangular, or otherwise configured patch 20 disposed in facing relation with the forward face or surface of back wall 12. The patch 20 is suitably secured about its peripheral margin, as by securing means 21, such as a generally rectangular or otherwise configured formation of stitching. Thus, the pocket patch 20 is secured to the forward side of the back wall 12 by the securing means or'stitching 21.
A pocket opening 22 is formed in the back wall 12 communicating through the latter in facing relation with an upper region of the patch 20. Thus, the patch 20 and adjacent facing portion of back wall 12 combine to define the walls of pocket 15, while opening 22 through back wall 12 affords access to the interior of the pocket.
The pocket 15 thus may be considered as facing rearwardly from the back wall 12, and may be provided with a flap 23 swingably secured on the rear face of back wall 12 extending over the pocket opening 22, and suitably connected to the back wall, as by the stitching or securement means 21 or other suitable securement means.
Without the aforesaid detailed description, the upper pocket 16 may be seen to include a patch 25 secured in facing relation with the forward surface of the back wall 12 by suitable securing means, such as a closed configuration of stitching 26. An access opening 27 is formed through the back wall 12 in facing relation with an upper region of thepatch 25, and a closure flap 28 is secured in overlying relation with the opening 27.
Of course, access to the pockets l5 and 16 is conveniently obtained by merely raising the flaps 23 and 28 for insertion or,withdrawal of selected articles through the respective openings 22 and 27. The pockets [5 and 16 are naturally concealed when the necktie 10 is in its normal condition, and even upon inadvertent reversal of the necktie, the contents of the pockets are effectively protected and concealed by the closure flaps 23 and 28.
Considering now the additional embodiment of FIG. 4, a four-in-hand necktie is there generally designated 10a, including a front wall 11a and back wall 12a. The necktie 10a is of a lined type, including an inner front sheet 30 lining the front wall 11a, and an inner back sheet 34 lining the back wall 12a.
A pocket 15a is provided in the back wall 12a, and may be composed of a region 20a of the inner sheet or lining 34 which is secured in facing relation with respect to the back wall by a closed configuration of securing means 21a, such as a rectangular configuration thereof. The back wall 12a is formed with a through opening 22a facing toward an upper portion of secured liner region a to define an access opening for the pocket 15a. A closure flap 23a may be provided on the rear side of back wall 12a overlying the pocket opening 22a, being secured in position by suitable means, such as the stitching or securing means 21a.
Thus, the pocket 15a affords a hidden receiver or compartment for articles, being naturally concealed by use of the tie, having the advantageous characteristics mentioned in connection with the first described embodiment, and permitting of fabrication without an extra patch by utilizing the lining of a lined tie Although the present invention has been described in some detail by way of illustration and example for purposes of clarity of understanding, it is understood that certain changes and modifications may be made within the spirit of the invention.
