Definitions

  • ABSTRACT A refilling device for the flush water container of a water-closet.
  • the device comprises an inlet tube, a refilling valve and an outlet tube.
  • a throttling member which also functions as a non-return valve preventing back flow in the outlet tube.
  • This arrangement is especially intended to be used in combination with a so called back suction guard, that is a means usually comprising flap covered air suction openings on the outlet side of the refilling valve.
  • the invention enables the use of relatively stiff flaps or other back flow preventing means at said air openings so that noise producing air suction through the openings can be completely avoided during normal operation of the refilling device.
  • the invention relates to a refilling device for the flush water container of a water-closet, which device comprises an inlet tube,.a refilling valve and an outlet tube.
  • a refilling device for the flush water container of a water-closet should usually comprises a so called backsuction guard which functions in such a way that if suction occurs in the water piping, the water in the flush water container of the water-closet cannot be sucked back into the water piping.
  • Known back-suction guards are provided with an air opening through which air will be sucked through the refilling valve into the water piping, if there occurs suction.
  • the said air opening can be covered by a flap as shown in the Finnish Pat. No. 35,001.
  • An object of the invention is to provide a refilling device in which said drawbacks do not occur.
  • the invention is characterized in that in the outlet tube there is a throttling member simultaneously operating as a nonreturn valve preventing back flow in said outlet tube.
  • a throttling member simultaneously operating as a nonreturn valve preventing back flow in said outlet tube.
  • said member is made of elastic material which enables the use of very simple constructions. As the said member forms a throttling member, the pressure in said outlet tube before said member is so increased that air will not be sucked into the outlet tube through the air openings of the back-suction guard.
  • the flaps of the back-suction guard can be made stiffer, so that air flow through the openings of the back-suction guard can be completely avoided during normal function of the refilling device.
  • the outlet tube is arranged around the inlet tube and the said throttling member is a collar-like member, located in the space between the inlet and the outlet tubes, said member being preferably attached to the outlet tube, and surrounding the outside of the inlet tube with a thin downwards directed sleeve.
  • the member is preferably placed approximately in the middle of the outlet tube, or at a higher level, because the amount of water above the member will then be small.
  • the member can advantageously be made of rubber.
  • FIG. 1 schematically shows an axial section through a refilling device according to the invention.
  • 1 indicates an inlet tube
  • 2 the valve housing of a refilling valve
  • 3 an outlet tube
  • a rubber diaphragm 4 which forms the valve body and is provided with a small central opening 5 through which the pressure in the inlet tube propagates to a chamber 6 above the diaphragm 4.
  • the pressure in the chamber 6 is in a known way regulated by means of a float operated pilot valve 7.
  • the valve housing 2 is provided with a back-suction guard according to Finnish Pat. No. 35,001 and comprising an air opening 9 provided with a flap 8.
  • the flap 8 is in this case formed as a cylindrical annulus.
  • a flexible member 10 with a downwards directed thin sleeve surrounding the outer surface of the inlet tube 1 is attached to the outlet tube 3.
  • This member is made of rubber and it functions in a downwards direction as a throttling member and in an upwards direction as a non-return valve.
  • a refilling device for the flush water container of a water-closet said device including a flow duct with a valve, said valve dividing said flow duct into an inlet part and an outlet part, said outlet part comprising, in combination, an air suction means and a non-return valve means, said air suction means being connected to said outlet part between said valve and said non-return valve means, said flow duct defining a free air flow passage between said air suction means and said valve and between said suction means and said non-return valve means.
  • said air suction means includes a check member preventing water from escaping from said outlet part through said air suction means.
  • a device in which said nonreturn valve means is arranged to provide a throttling of the flow in said outlet part, thereby causing a pressure loading the check member of said air suction means.
