UNITED STATES PATENTS 1 Claim, 4 Drawing Figures Fullarton et a1. ..36/72 R SLIP N STEEL roor GUARD SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS.
In the drawings:
FIG. 1 is a perspective view of my invention;
FIG. 2 is a view taken along line 2-2 in FIG. 1;
FIG. 3 is a view of a modification of my invention; and
FIG. 4 is a view of a part used in the invention of FIG. 2.
- DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS Referring now to FIGS. 1 and 2, a resilient sole formed for example of rubber has a hollow metal toe cap 12 secured on top of the toe portion of the sole. The cap can be formed of steel or tungsten steel for example. Steel spring clips 14 extend inclinedly upward from midpoints on opposite sides of the sole to the cap to help hold the shoe 16 of the wearer in place, resting on the sole with the tip in the cap. Ankle straps 18 extending rearward from the cap complete the structure.
As shown in FIGS. 3 and 4, the cap 12 itself can be detachably secured by clips 14A to the shoe 16 by means of removable screws or pins 18. A bracket or tip 20 can be secured to the front of the cap by screw 22 as a further protection.
The arrangement in FIGS. 3 and 4 is suitable for light duty only. Heavier duty applications require use of the structure shown in FIGS. 1 and 2.
While I have described my invention with particular reference to preferred embodiments as shown in the drawings, my protection is to be limited only by the terms of the claims which follow.
I claim:
1. Apparatus for use with a conventional shoe comprising a hollow metal toe cap adapted to detachably receive the toe of a shoe and means detachably securing the cap to the shoe wherein said means includes a resilient sole with the cap secured thereto, and shoe resting on the sale, including spring clips secured to opposite sides of the cap and said clips also secured to said sole.
