United States Patent 3,032,897 DUCK FEET CLOPPERS Antonio G. 0. Gelineau, 425 Falcon Ave., Miami Springs, Fla. Filed Aug. 16, 1960, Ser. No. 49,988 4 Claims. (Cl. 36-75) This invention relates to articles and more particularly to duck feet walking clop-pers for chlidren.

It is an object of the present invention to provide a walking appliance resembling the sound and appearance of ducks feet which may be used for amusement, athletic, and decorative purposes by persons of all age groups.

Still a further object of the present invention is to provide duck feet cloppers of the above type which can be readily applied to the shoes, without discomfort and removed without extensive handling and without damage to the shoes.

Other objects of the invention are to provide duck feet cloppers bearing the above objects in mind which is of simple construction, has a minimum number of parts, is inexpensive to manufacture and eflicient in operation.

For other objects and for a better understanding of the invention, reference may be had to the following detailed description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawing, in which:

FIGURE 1 is a perspective view of a duck foot clopper made in accordance with one form of the present invention;

FIGURE 2 is a perspective view of a slightly modified form of construction; and

FIGURE 3 is a longitudinal cross sectional view taken along line 33 of FIGURE 2 showing the device in actual use.

Referring now more in detail to the drawing, one of a pair of duck foot cloppers made in accordance With one form of the present invention is shown to include a main body portion 12 preferably constructed from a length of two by four lumber which is slightly longer than the shoe of the wearer. A heel block 14 is secured to the upper surface of the main body member 12 for positioning the shoe upon the top surface of the block. A heel 16 is placed against the block 14, so that the shoe 18 is completely supported upon the upper surface of the main body member.

20, 22 are secured at their free ends to the sides of the main body member 12, one such strap 20 serving to secure the instep portion of the shoe to the block, Whereas the other strap 22 secures the toe portion of the shoe to the block.

With reference now to FIGURES 2 and 3 of the drawing, a slightly modified form of construction 30 is shown wherein each duck foot clopper has a main body portion 32 with forwardly diverging sides 34 and a rearwardly positioned arcuate heel block 36 having an arcuate concave receptacle 38 for positioning the heel portion of the shoe therewithin. secured at its opposite end by means of mounting plates 42 and mounting screws 44 to the upper surface of the main body member 32 for engaging the instep portion of the shoe, whereas the other elastic strap 40 is secured in a similar manner by means of mounting plates 42 and mounting screws 44 for engaging the toe portion of the shoe.

The front end of the main body member 32 is provided with scallops 46 which provide the appearance of a ducks foot, and simulated webs 48 formed by intersecting

'It will now be recognized that in actual use, these devices may be worn for amusement, athletic, or decorative purposes, and such closely resemble a ducks foot for all intents and purposes.

It will also be recognized that these devices can be readily applied or removed without permanent damage to the foot or shoe, and without special equipment or materials, thus broadening their particular use and application.

While various changes may be made in the detail construction, it shall be understood that such changes shall be within the spirit and scope of the present invention as defined by the appended claims.

What I claim as new and desire to protect by Letters Patent of the United States is:

1. In a walking appliance, the combination of a block having positioning means for receiving the shoe of a wearer, strap means detachably secured thereto for the shoe of the wearer, said block having a bottom surface substantially flat and having a pair of forwardly diverging sides to form an enlarged forward supporting area and a relatively narrow rear supporting area.

2. The combination according to claim 1 wherein said block is substantially wider than the height thereof for providing stable support therefor.

3. The combination according to claim 2 wherein said positioning means comprises a heel block secured to an upper surface of said block limiting rearward movement of the heel of the shoe relative to said block.

4. The combination according to claim 3 wherein said strap means comprises a pair of elastic strap elements secured at their opposite rear ends to the block for yieldably engaging the instep and toe portions of the shoe of the wearer.
