1 Claim, 2 Drawing Figures PAIENTEUncI 24 I972 INVENTORS m R L. mw m MA NB as N w R M0 B6 ATTORNEY BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION sembly for mounting an aerosol bomb in conjunction with a valve actuating dispenser. Use of aerosol bombs for the desired purpose necessitates a support therefore, which not only insures positive support but additionally must be capable of permitting rapid and easy mounting and replacement of aerosol cans, while at the same time providing a positive support for cans of size variations or detailed can construction differences.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The present invention provides an adjustable aerosol can support for supporting an aerosol bomb from a' baseplate appropriately mountable in desired use locations. The baseplate is provided with a hole or opening slightly larger than the outside diameter of lips of aerosol cans to be mounted thereon, adapted for insertion of the upper dispensing portion of the can therethrough for easy mounting, removal and replacement. The lip of the aerosol can, after insertion through the hole, is allowed to rest on the surface of the baseplate opposite a thumb screw which is thereupon tightened against the lip of the can thereby securing it firmly. The thumb screw or the like is adjustably mounted in a tab bent up on the base of the baseplate leading from the hole, with the tab drilled or tapped for the thumb screw. The construction is inexpensive and the operation functionally simple and efficient.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS manner by an actuating rod 24 and return spring 26.
Details and operation of this type of aerosol bomb or can is described in detail in the aforesaid copending patent application.
The mounting and support for the can, generally designated 28, is adapted for mounting on a wall or the like and includes a baseplate 30 as a portion thereof. A hole or opening 32, is formed in the baseplate. The hole or opening 32 made in the baseplate is slightly larger than the outside diameter of the lip 18 of an aerosol can 10 to be mounted. The size of the opening is such that it can accommodate for differences in can lip dimen- SlOl'lS.
As shown, the upper end of the can including the release valve 20 and lip 18 are passed upwardly through opening 32 and the lip of the can is then placed on the surface of the baseplate in a rest position thereon. A tab 34 is bent up on the base of the baseplate, from the material thereoflleadin'g from the hole. A hole is drilled in the tab and tapped for a threaded thumb screw 36, or the like, which is adjustably engageable in the hole.
After the lip of the can is inserted in the 'hole,'and placed to rest on the surface of the baseplate, the thumb screw 36 is tightened against the lip of the can thereby securing it firmly in place in conjunction with the contact andsupport area afforded conjointly between the rear baseplate surface defining opening 32 in'the baseplate 30 and the can surface and lip 18. v
In the embodiment shown, the centers of the opening and can are relatively displaced or offset with respect to one another. The longitudinal axis of the thumb screw, as extended, is also offset with respect to the longitudinal axis of or center of the can, but in alignment with the center of the opening. This arrangement, whilevarying slightly dependent upon the size of the aerosol can mounted, provides an angular or offset wedging or forcing of the can lip against the surface opening for enhanced positive support.
The present device holds the aerosol can extremely firmand as mounted the can does not tilt appreciably. The single thumb screw, or the like, is readily adaptable for variations in can lip dimensions and'can support engagement. The axial relationships enhances the support of the can. The construction is such that cans can be easily and rapidly mounted, removed and replaced as required, and the dispensing mechanism is openly and easily accessible for desired operation thereof.
Manifestly minor changes in details can be effected in the invention without departing from the spirit and the scope thereof asdefined in, and limited solely by, the appended claims.
We claim:
1. In an aerosol dispensing device for dispensing fluid from a container having an actuating valve at its top for releasing fluid therefrom and a lip forming an enlarge ment extending at least partially about an upper portion thereof below said valve;
A. a baseplate having an opening adapted for upward insertion therethrough of an aerosol container dispensing valve and lip, said opening being of a size larger than the aerosol lip adapted for insertion therethrough; the lip being engageable by and on the baseplate with the container offset from the iii. a lip engaging rotatable screw member threadedly mounted in said opening and being adjustably engageable with the aerosol can lip for pressure engagement by and between the lip and the edge of said opening and supported by the baseplate;
iv. the axis of said screw member, extended, intersecting the center of said opening, and the longitudinal axis of said screw being angularly offset from said baseplate, whereby engagement between said screw and said lip is axially offset for enhanced 5 v wedge engagement and support by and between said baseplate and said container.

Claims (1)

1. In an aerosol dispensing device for dispensing fluid from a container having an actuating valve at its top for releasing fluid therefrom and a lip forming an enlargement extending at least partially about an upper portion thereof below said valve; A. a baseplate having an opening adapted for upward insertion therethrough of an aerosol container dispensing valve and lip, said opening being of a size larger than the aerosol lip adapted for insertion therethrough; the lip being engageable by and on the baseplate with the container offset from the center of said opening; B. an adjustable can lip engaging member mounted on the upper side of said baseplate including: i. a tab bent up on the base of said baseplate leading from said opening; ii. said tab having a threaded opening; iii. a lip engaging rotatable screw member threadedly mounted in said opening and being adjustably engageable with the aerosol can lip for pressure engagement by and between the lip and the edge of said opening and supported by the baseplate; iv. the axis of said screw member, extended, intersecting the center of said opening, and the longitudinal axis of said screw being angularly offset from said baseplate, whereby engagement between said screw and said lip is axially offset for enhanced wedge engagement and support by and between said baseplate and said container.
