Definitions

  • a first leaf is joined to Said frame at [58] Field 61 Search ..40/159, 158 B, 158, 16 four sides of said inner edge-
  • a Second leaf isjoined to said frame only at three sides of said inner edge.
  • This invention relates to a lantern slide cover and it is an object of the invention to provide improvements in the packaging and use (viewing) of lantern slides.
  • the lantern slide cover according to the invention comprises two leaves, which are joined to the frame adjacent to its inner edge, which defines an opening, one leaf being joined to the frame at four sides of said edge and the other leaf being joined to said frame only at three sides of said edge, whereby a pocket is formed for accommodating the lantern slide.
  • the frame consists of opaque material, one leaf consists of transparent material and the other leaf consists of translucent and preferably dull material.
  • the leaf of transparent material is provided on the viewing side of the other leaf and is joined to the rear side of the frame at four sides of the inner edge defining the opening of the frame whereas the leaf of dull material is somewhat offset from the transparent leaf and joined to the rear side of the frame only at three sides of said edge.
  • the frame and the two leaves are made from hard polyvinylchloride and are joined by welding.
  • the lantern slide cover according to the invention can be made particularly easily from hard polyvinylchloride sheeting. The expenditure of material is small so that the manufacturing costs are low.
  • the lantern slide cover according to the invention Special advantages result from the use of the lantern slide cover according to the invention because a lantern slide can very easily be inserted into and removed from the cover. On the other hand, the cover slides are safely accommodated in the cover and are protected against damage and substantially sealed against an ingress of dust. The viewing of the slides is also improved because the lantern slide cover according to the invention holds the slide in a plane and the leaves which define the pocket are in planar contact with the slide, without irregularities, so that there will be no distortion. The perfectly planar position of the slide and the diffuse light which is due to the use of the leaf of dull material enable an exact examination of the lantern slides. Another advantage resides in that the lantern slide cover according to the invention is particularly flat and much space can be saved when the slides are kept, e.g., in card index boxes.
  • Fl is a er ctive front view and a pe sp cfive rear view.
  • the transparency cover according to the invention consists of a frame 1, which is made from opaque material, preferably hard polyvinylchloride sheeting.
  • the frame 1 has an opening 2.
  • Leaves 3 and 4 are secured to the edge of said opening on opposite sides of the frame.
  • the leaf 3 may consist of a transparent polyvinylchloride sheeting and may be welded to the underside of the frame 1 near its opening on four sides.
  • the leaf 4 may consist of translucent and preferably dull material or a material having a milky appearance, e.g., a suitable polyvinylchloride sheeting, and is joined to the frame only on three sides by a seam weld 6 somewhat offset from the welded joint of the leaf 3.
  • the leaves 3 and 4 thus define a slip-in opening 5 for lantern slides.
  • the lantern slide cover according to the invention may be made in any desired size. Special advantages will be afforded by large-size lantern slide covers.
  • a lantern slide cover comprising a frame having an inner edge which has four sides defining an opening
  • said frame consists of opaque material
  • said first leaf consists of a transparent material
  • said second leaf consists of a dull translucent material of milky appearance
  • said frame has a viewing side and a rear side
  • said first leaf is joined to said rear side of said frame adjacent said four sides of said inner edge
  • said second leaf is secured to said rear side of said frame at only said three sides of said inner edge and on the side of said first leaf which is opposite to said viewing side of said frame
  • said second leaf is slightly offset from said first leaf.
