TOBOGGAN-SLIDE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 366,232, dated July l2I 1887.
Serial No. 231.572. (No model.)
ment in toboggan-slides adapted for use in summer as well as in winter, not depending upon the state of the weather or thc presence of snow or ice to adapt it for use; and it consists in a certain novel construction hereinafter described and claimed.
In the drawings hereto annexed I illustrate a slide constructed according to my'improved plan, in which- Fignre l is a perspective view thereof, and Fig. 2 is a plan view of the saine with a portion .of the side rails broken away to show the construction thereof and the manner of journaling the rollers.
Referring to the drawings, in which similar letters denote"corresponding parts in all the figures, A designates the frame of the slide, having the side rails or bars, B, usually of considerable thickness, as shown, and extending the entire length of the slide.
C O represent the rollers, having pins or trunnions c c in the opposite ends to operate in bearings in the said side rails or bars, B. The rollers are set a short distance apart, as shown, and when the journals are properly lubricated the resistance offered to the descent of the toboggan will be found very slight.
The advantage possessed by this mode of constructing the slide will be readily appreciated, as it is not necessary to wait for snow or ice to use the same, it being at all times in readiness theret'or; also, the slide as described possesses an advantage, in that'it may be covered by an awning or roof and usedl during inclement weather, while the said ordinary slide must necessarily be exposed to theweather in order to become covered with snow or ice to make it possible to use the same. By the construction shown the rollers are protected and sustained from all side strain, and thus they will be always in position to allow free sliding of the toboggan.
Having now described my invention, I claim` 1 The improved toboggan-slide herein described and shown, comprising the supportingframe A, the inclinedside rails, B, and the rollers C, journaled in and between the side rails immediately adjacent to, but out of contact with, each other, substantially as speciiied.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own I have hereto affixed my signature in presence of two witnesses.
. JAMES MGCULLOIUGH.
