Definitions
- the platform is moved by the operation of a cam and cam follower in turn driven by a pneumatic cylinder.
- the potential energy of the work piece and platform is used to move the work piece 1 to one of the desired positions.
- the work piece is a roller electrode raised into contact with a moving flat plate electrode.
- the two electrodes are used in a photoelectrophoretic imaging system to form and transfer an image.
Abstract
A lift mechanism is used for moving a work piece between operation and idle positions. The work piece is mounted on a platform which is slidably fit within a support structure. The platform is moved by the operation of a cam and cam follower in turn driven by a pneumatic cylinder. The potential energy of the work piece and platform is used to move the work piece to one of the desired positions. The work piece is a roller electrode raised into contact with a moving flat plate electrode. The two electrodes are used in a photoelectrophoretic imaging system to form and transfer an image.

Claims (3)
1. An elevator mechanism for moving a first roller member into contact with a traveling flat plate comprising a first platform for carrying the roller member slidably fit in a frame for movement between first and second positions, and first lift means coupled to said platform for propelling the platform between said first and second positions with said roller member capable of contacting the plate member when the platform is at the first position, said platform including a tank for containing a fluid and having said roller member journaled for rotation in the walls of the tank.
2. The mechanism of claim 1 wherein said platform further includes leg members extending generally perpendicular from a plane of the platform and slidably fit in slots in said frame.
3. An elevator mechanism for moving a first roller member into contact with a traveling flat plate comprising a first platform for carrying the roller member slidably fit in a frame for movement between first and second positions, and first lift means coupled to said platform for propelling the platform between said first and second positions with said roller member capable of contacting the plate member when the platform is at the first position, said plate and roller members including means for coupling to a voltage source to establish an electric field between them and further including, inking means for applying photoelectrophoretic ink between the plate and roller members, and exposure means for exposing said ink to electromagnetic radiation to form an image from ink exposed to radiation and subjected to an electric field.
