The strands extend longitudinally of both main panels and across the fold line connecting the same. One of the pairs of side panels is relieved at its ends adjacent the fold line, so as to provide sharp folds in the strands at such fold line, without bunching, and so as to enable it to be displayed at such fold line for removal individually if desired. A flap foldably connected to one of the main panels is secured to the other main panel, and has a tear strip therein for readily opening the folder. A viewing window may be provided in one of the main panels so that the contents of the closed folder may be viewed without opening.

The folder has a pair of main panels foldably connected in end to end relationship, and side panels connected to each main panel are folded to overlapping position to hold the strands in position.
2 Claims, 4 Drawing Figures SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The structure according to the present invention comprehends a folder for holding stranded material such as Christmas tree tinsel or the like. These are held in the folder and are folded midway of the length thereof. The strands are prevented from bunching at the line of fold, and upon opening of the folder the strands are clearly displayed so that they may be removed one by one and hung as festoons on a Christmas tree or the like.
THE DRAWING FIG. 1 is a perspective view of the folder according to the present invention;
FIG. 2 is a similar view, but of the opposite side thereof;
FIG. 3 is a plan view of a cut and scored blank for forming the folder seen in FIGS. I and 2; and
FIG. 4 is a perspective view showing the folder in open position and erected for the display and removal of the stranded material held therein.
The improved folder according to the present invention is referred to by the reference numeral 10, and is formed from a cut and scored blank A. Folder 10 includes a window 14 having a film 16 of transparent material thereover for the display of stranded material S therewithin.
Blank 10A includes a first panel 11 anda second panel 12 connected thereto at their proximate ends along a fold line 13. Panel 11 has side panels 17 extending therefrom having the ends 27 thereof parallel to fold line 12, these being foldably connected thereto along fold lines 18. In like fashion second panel 12 has side panels 19 extending therefrom, these being foldably connected thereto along fold lines 21. Side panels 19 differ from side panels 17 in that the ends 22 thereof are disposed at an angle with respect to the fold line 13, so that upon folding thereof in overlapped position as seen in FIG. 4 a certain amount of clearance C is formed between the ends 22 of the panels 19 to display the strands S when the folder is opened.
The strands S are laid upon the panels 11 and 12, the strands being at right angles to the fold line 13. Thereafter side panels 17 are folded to overlapping position with the ends 27 thereof being substantially colinear with fold line 13 and may be glued together and side panels 19 folded in overlapping position and may be also glued.
Main panel 12 has a closing flap 23 extending therefrom and foldable with respect thereto along a fold line 24. When the flaps l7 and 19 are closed upon each other in the manner aforesaid the folder is then folded about the fold line 13, and flap 23 is glued to flap 11, it being held thereto by a glue patch GP. Flap 23 has a tear strip 26 therein which can be removed prior to opening the folder to the position as seen in FIG. 4 for display of the contents and removal of discrete strands therefrom.
We claim:
1. A folder for shipping, displaying and dispensing strands of material such as Christmas tree tinsel or the like, said folder being formed from a cut and scored blank of paperboard or the like and comprising:
a. first and second main panels foldably connected at their proximate ends along a fold line;
b. side panels foldably connected to each side of said main panels and foldable to overlapping position with said tinsel confined between said main and side panels and extending across the line of fold connecting said main panels;
c. the side panels extending from one of said main panels having the ends thereof adjacent said line of fold between said main panels cut along a diagonal line;
d. the other of said side panels having the ends thereof substantially colinear with said line of fold between said main panels;
e. a flap foldably connected to one of said main panels and extending over the other of said main panels; I. said flap being secured to said other mam panel and mcluding a tear strip for detaching said flap from said other main panel;
f. said main panels being adapted to be supported at their distal ends upon removal of said tear strip with said line of fold in uppermost position with said strands exposed at said line of fold for removal as discrete strands as desired.
2. A folder according to claim 1 wherein one of said main panels has a viewing window therein.

Claims (2)

1. A folder for shipping, displaying and dispensing strands of material such as Christmas tree tinsel or the like, said folder being formed from a cut and scored blank of paperboard or the like and comprising: a. first and second main panels foldably connected at their proximate ends along a fold line; b. side panels foldably connected to each side of said main panels and foldable to overlapping position with said tinsel confined between said main and side panels and extending across the line of fold connecting said main panels; c. the side panels extending from one of said main panels having the ends thereof adjacent said line of fold between said main panels cut along a diagonal line; d. the other of said side panels having the ends thereof substantially colinear with said line of fold between said main panels; e. a flap foldably connected to one of said main panels and extending over the other of said main panels; i. said flap being secured to said other main panel and including a tear strip for detaching said flap from said other main panel; f. said main panels being adapted to be supported at their distal ends upon removal of said tear strip with said line of fold in uppermost position with said strands exposed at said line of fold for removal as discrete strands as desired.
2. A folder according to claim 1 wherein one of said main panels has a viewing window therein.
