HARRY I. LATIMER, OF CRANFORD, NEW JERSEY, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF TO EDWARD G. SOLTMANN, OF NEWV YORK, N. Y.
DRAFTSMAN'S TRIANGLE.
' SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent N'o.365, 1-'79 dated June 28, 1887.
Application filed October 5, 185'6. Serial No. 215,373. I (No model.)
To all whom it; may concern.- Be it known that I, HARRY I. LATIMER, of
Oranford, in the county of Union and State of New Jersey, haveinvented a certain new and useful Improvement in Draftsmens Triangles, of which the following is a specification.
My improvement consists in a draftsmans triangle having a straight edge and provided with curves extending between the sides of the triangle.
The accompanying drawing illustrates a draftsmans triangle embodying my improve nient.
The triangle shown in the figure of drawing has a base, a, and two sides, a, which are severally disposed at an angle of forty-five degrees to the base. Four slot-curves, b b b b extend between the sides aof the triangle. These curves are adjacent to eachother and are continuous curves, or, in other words, They are curves struck from different radii and extend upon both sides of their centers to points adjacent to two sides of the triangle. Goincidently with the radii a line, a, is shown as marked on the triangle. This line is at right angles to the base a of the triangle. It bisects thetriangle,
parallel with the base a.
and hence extends tothe point or angle formed by the meeting of the sides a. The line indi cates the center of the curves, and hence is useful. The chords of the curves would be By placing the tri angle with its base a against thelower edge of a T-square arches and other are lines having the ends extending downwardly'may be ruled by means of the curves. If the triangle be placed with its base against the upper edge of a T square reversely arranged arches and other arcs may be made.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent. isl A draftsmans triangle having a number of continuous slot-curves of different radii, said slot-curves being arranged adjacent to each other and extending upon both sides of the centers of the curves to points adjacent to two sides of the triangle and in such position that the chords will be parallel with one side of the triangle, substantially as specified.
HARRY I. 'LATIMER.
