Abstract

A first plate is supported by the thumb of a user. A second plate is supported by the index finger of the user. Eyelashes are held between the plates and when relative sliding motion is applied between the plates in a direction parallel to the lashes, a curling action ensues.

3 Claims, 6 Drawing Figures APPARATUS FOR CURLING EYE LASHES SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION In my invention, one surface of one end of a generally flat elongated first member is adapted to be held by the thumb of a user. The other surface of this end carries a parallel first plate. One surface of one end of a generally flat elongated second member is adapted to be held by the index finger. The other surface of this end of the second member carries a transverse ly extending second plate. The two members are held slidably together. In use, eyelashes to be curled are held between the two plates by pressure exerted on both thumb and finger. The second member is then slid along the first member to cause the second plate to be moved along the eyelashes in the direction parallel to the lashes whereby the curling action takes place.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS In the drawings:
FIG. 1 is a detail end view of the second plate in accordance with my invention;
FIG. 2 is a detail bottom view of the structure shown in FIG.
FIG. 3 is a detail end view of the first plate in accordance with my invention;
FIG. 4 is a detail top view of the structure shown in FIG. 3;
FIG. 5 is a side view of my invention in use; and
FIG. 6 is a bottom view of my invention.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS Referring now to FIGS. 1-6, a first elongated flat flexible member 10 with sidewalls 12 has one end with a curved recess 14 in one surface adapted to receive a thumb I6 and a first flat plate 18 parallel to and secured to the other surface. The member can be of metal or plastic and plate 18 can be of rubber.
A second elongated flat flexible member 20 is parallel to member 10 and engages the sidewalls to be manually slidable back and forth along member 10. One end of member 20 has a curved recess 22 in one surface adapted to receive an index finger 24 and a second flat plate 26 lying in a plane perpendicular to member 20 and extending transversely to the direction of elongation. The second plate and second member can be of metal or plastic.
In use, the members with the two plates almost abutting are held between the thumb and forefinger, with the eyelashes 28 held between the plates. The plate 26 is then moved manually away from the face of the user, with the second member sliding along the first member, until the lashes are curled.
While I have described my invention with particular reference to the drawings, such is not to be considered as limiting its actual scope.
Having thus described this invention, what is asserted as new is;
1. Apparatus for curling eyelashes comprising:
a first elongated generally flat flexible member having at one end thumb-receiving means on one surface and a parallel first plate on the outer surface;
a second elongated generally flat flexible member having at one end index finger receiving means on one surface and a transversely extending second plate on the other surface, said members being parallel and the two plates being disposed in adjacent almost abutting relationship; and
means interconnecting said members to permit relative sliding motion therebetween.
2. Apparatus as set forth in claim 1 wherein said plates extend at right angles to each other and the second plate extends in a direction perpendicular to the direction of elongation.
3. Apparatus as set forth in claim 3 wherein each receiving means is a recess in the one surface of the corresponding end.

Claims (3)

1. Apparatus for curling eyelashes comprising: A FIRST ELONGATED GENERALLY FLAT FLEXIBLE MEMBER HAVing at one end thumb-receiving means on one surface and a parallel first plate on the outer surface; A SECOND ELONGATED GENERALLY FLAT FLEXIBLE MEMBER HAVing at one end index finger receiving means on one surface and a transversely extending second plate on the other surface, said members being parallel and the two plates being disposed in adjacent almost abutting relationship; and MEANS INTERCONNECTING SAID MEMBERS TO PERMIT RELATIVE SLIDING MOTION THEREBETWEEN.
2. Apparatus as set forth in claim 1 wherein said plates extend at right angles to each other and the second plate extends in a direction perpendicular to the direction of elonGation.
3. Apparatus as set forth in claim 3 wherein each receiving means is a recess in the one surface of the corresponding end.
