To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, WILHELM SINGER, a subject of the King of Prussia, in the German Empire, and aresident of the city of Berlin, in the Kingdom of Prussia,Germany, have in vented certain new and useful Improvements in Folding Carriages, of which the following.
is a specification. V
The object of my invention is to procure a strong and ornamental childs carriage, which contracts and permits of its being folded when notin use. I attain this object in a manner illustrated in the accompanying drawings, of which Figure 1 is a side elevation of the childs carriage ready for use. Fig. 2 is an end view Fig. 3 is a side elevation of the childs carriage when folded.
The same letters refer to the same parts throughout.
I construct the carriage body of two parts, a and a, hinged together at b. To the bot-tom of a are secured the ends of the springs c, which carry near their lower extremities the axle d, with the wheels f, and which aid to support the bottom of a by-nieans of the springs e, mounted upon a. To the bottom of a are secured the springs a, carrying below the bent axle d,with the wheels f, and serve to support the bottom of a. r
The axle d is bent upward to'such an extent as to allow the small wheels f to pass between thelargcr wheels, f when the carriage is folded, thus forming a compact parcel.
When folded down, the two halves a and a of thecarriage-body are braced by means of the braces h, one end of which is hinged to one part' of the carriage-body, while the other is guided in a slide on the other part and held therein at the proper position by a suitable clamping device. i
Having described myinvention.whatlclaim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. In a folding childs carriage, the combination of the body a a with the springs c, e, and c, the axles d 01, wheels f f, and braces h, as and for the purposes herein shown and described.
2. In a folding ehilds carriage, the bent axle.
