Description

(N0 Mudel.)
G. W. LA NDENBERGER.
CHRISTMAS TREE ORNAMENT.
N0. 362,017. Patented Apr. 26, 1.887.
WITNESSES:
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
GEORGE W. LANDENBERGER, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA, ASSIGNOR TO CHARLES M. MOCLOUD, OF SAME PLACE.
CHRISTMAS-TREE ORNAMENT.
SPECIFICATION forming part Of Letters Patent NO. 362,017, dated April 26, 1887.
Application filed December 4. 1886. Serial NoflQihBSS. (No model.)
.To aZZ whom, it may concern.-
Be it known that I, GEORGE W. LANDEN- BERGER, a citizen of the United States, residing in the city and county of Philadelphia, State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Christmas-Tree Ornaments, which improvement is fully set forth in the following specification and accompanying drawings, in which Figures 1 and 2 represent elevations of Christmas tree ornaments embodying my invention;
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in the two figures.
My invention consists of a Christmas-tree ornament formed of a ball having a reflectingsurface and a frill, wreath, or other surround ing of tinsel, whereby brilliant effects are produced, as will be hereinafter fully set forth.
Referring to the drawings, A represents a ball formed of glass or other material having a glossy or reflecting surface.
B represents tinsel, which encircles the ball A, and is secured thereto by a wire, 0, or other suitable means, said tinsel being of the form of a wreath in Fig. l and a frill in Fig. 2. Flies D are secured to the tinsel in Fig. 1; but to this I do not limit my invention.
If desired, a number of balls may be employed in lieu of the single ball shown in the 0 drawings.
Attached to the ball or tinsel is a loop or hook, E, which maybe continuous of the wire is G, and adapted for attaching the ornament to the tree. A 3 5 It will be seen that the tinsel is reflected by the ball A, and, as it is of a glittering nature and possesses reflecting qualities, a brilliant effect is produced, this being furtherincreased when the ornament is hung on a Christmas 0 tree and the latter illuminated.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. A Christmas tree ornament consisting of 5 a ball having a reflecting-surface and tinsel surrounding the same and secured thereto, substantially as described.
2. A Christmas-tree ornament consisting of the ball A, having a reflecting-surface, the 0 tinsel 13, connected to the said ball A by wire 0, and the loop E, substantially as described.
GEO. W. LANDENBERGER. W'itnesses:
A. P. GRANT, J AS. F. KELLY.
