NITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
BRADLEY W. FRANKLIN, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
IMPROVED VULCANIZING HEATER OR BOILER.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 36,146, dated August 12, 1862.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, BRADLEY W. FRANKLIN, assignor to THE AMERICAN HARD RUBBER COMPANY, both of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Mode in the Construction of Vulcanizing-Boilers and Manner of-Securing the Parts Thereof; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon.
Figure l is aside elevation of my improved vulcanizing-boiler. Fig. 2 is a perpendicular section of the same, and Fig. 3 is the cap or cover.
Similar letters indicate like parts in all the drawings.
To enable others skilled in the art to make and use my invention, I will proceed to describe its construction and operation;
I construct my vulcanizing-boiler of any suitable material and in any known form out of two or more seamless cups or vessels, H H, fitting the one over the other, and with a cap or cover, 0, as seen in Fig. 2. The cups or vessels H H are flanged and secured to the ring or collar B by any suitable device. The
cap or cover 0 is provided with a groove at I I to receive packing, with a screw-thread in the opening at F to receive a thermometer or gage, and also with ears or nuts at D D D D D projecting at any desirable angle to receive the bolts or screws E E E E E, all of which can be seen by reference to Figs. 1, 2, and 3.
When ready for use, the cap or cover 0, resting within the circumference of the ring or collar B, is secured to the boiler A by means of the bolts or screws at E E E E E, the inner face of whose flange or head firmly impinges against the ring or collar B when they are serewed'or introduced into the ears or nuts D D D D D.
WhatI claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The combination of two or more seamless cups or vessels, H H, and the cap or cover 0, as above described, the whole, when in combination and secured by the bolts or screws E E E E E, constituting a vulcanizing-boiler, substantially as set forth and specified.
