  • grape vines and supporting shelf are inserted in between the base and the pin frame on which tape is stuck, and when the handle is forcibly closed, the grape vines and the supporting shelf are unitedly bound, and the end portion thereof is held with pin, and the tape is cutoff with the cutting edge, and the end portion of the tape is slightly lowered from the front end portion of said pin frame by means of opening operation of the handle, and then said tape is taken out of the following slight closing operation of the handle and it is stuck thereon.

  • the present invention relates to the binder for binding grape vines by drawing the same onto the supporting shelf, and more in particular the object of the present invention is to provide such a mechanism for quickly carrying out the operation for binding grape vines or the like such that there is no fear that the push-rod should become tangled with grape vines or damage other articles by hitting the same during operation.

  • the rear end of the push-rod connected to the clutch lever (24)) also has an aslant surface (24) on the lower half portion thereof with the upper half portion thereof forming a projected member (23) which is placed in such a manner that the projected member (23) can be connected on the projected checlt point (25) provided on the upper portion of the side wall (19') of the casing or the upper edge of said vertically long hole (21) and at the same time the aslant surface (24) can be connected to the clutch lever (ZII).

  • the tape holding plate (13) whose rotation was previously prevented by the end of said push rod, is rotated toward the side of the tape receiving plate (l5) by means of the elasticity of the coil spring (118), and passes through the tape (A) drawn out by the tape guide (26) and bites the tape (A) by passing the needle (l l) through the aperture (116) of the tape receiving plate (IE) to fix the same.
  • pin frame (2) and the base (l) are opened by means of the coil spring (5), and at the same time the tape (A) is also taken out as is shown with the dotted line of FIG. 1.
  • the grape vines and the supporting shelf are inserted into the opening portion thereof and when handle (7) is compressed, frame (2) and base (l) swing toward one another whereby plate spring (6) is pushed to lower the presser (3), and the pin (B) within the pin frame (2) is driven out by means of the pin driving piece (3'), and binds the tape (A) due to the pin contacting the curved base (25) of the base (l) and at the same time the tape cutting edge (29) provided on the presser (3) is lowered to cut off the: tape (A).
  • the operation member (M) of the presser (El) presses down the projection (10) of the push-rod (9), and therefore the aslant surface (24) of the rear end portion of the push-rod (9) is contacted against the clutch lever (2%) (Refer to FIG. 4C), and is lowered to the left aslantly, and the end of the projection (23) is contacted against the clutch lever (20) to move the push-rod (9) to the left (refer to MG. 45).
  • grape vines can be quickly bound, and at the same time in the present invention the push-rod for carrying out the retaining and releasing of tape is separated from the presser, and is provided on the base, and therefore there is no fear that the push-rod should be tangled with the grape vines or that it should hit other articles to give damage thereto.
  • the movement or stopping of the pushrod can be carried out by means of a clutch lever, and therefore operation can be accurately carried out, and it is possible to obtain a durable and economical binder in accordance with the present invention, and at the same time a number of excellent effects can be obtained.
  • a device for binding a plurality of articles with a loop of tape secured by a binding pin comprising a base, tape-holding means secured adjacent one end of said base and including a tape-holding member movably mounted on said base and adapted for coaction with a flexible tape for securing a portion of said tape relative to said base, rod means movably mounted on said base with an end portion of said rod means coacting with said tape-holding member for maintaining the same in a released position out of engagement with said tape, a presser member connected to said base and movable toward and away therefrom, said presser member having a portion adapted to contact said rod means when said presser member is moved toward said base for causing said rod means to be moved downwardly relative to said base, and means coacting between said base and said rod means in response to said downward movement of said rod means relative to said base for enabling said tape-holding member to move into an operable position for engaging and holding the tape.
  • a device further including a handle means pivotally mounted on one of said base and presser member and coacting with the otherof said base and presser member for permitting pivotal movement of said base and presser member toward and away from one another, and said rod means being mounted on said base for downward movement relative thereto between first and second positions, and resilient means coacting between said base and said rod means for normally maintaining said rod means in said first position, actuation of said handle means for causing said presser member to be moved toward said base causing said presser member to contact said rod means to move same away from said first position toward said second position, said rod means being initially moved to a position intermediate said first and second positions for causing said tape-holding member to engage and hold said tape, and said rod means being maintained in said intermediate position when said presser member is pivotally moved away from said base back to its original position, whereby said tape-holding member remains in engagement with said tape.
  • a binder for binding grape vines with tape comprising an elongated presser member, an elongated pin frame adapted to have securing pins disposed therein, an elongated base, connecting means pivotally interconnecting the adjacent rearward ends of the base and the pin frame and the presser member for permitting relative pivotal movement therebetween, handle means pivotally mounted on said base and including a first portion adapted to be manually gripped and a second portion coacting with said presser member whereby pivotal movement of said handle means relative to said base causes a corresponding pivotal movement of said presser member relative to said base, tape-holding and receiving means provided on said base adjacent the other end thereof for engaging and holding the free end of a length of tape, elongated actuating means movably mounted on said base for movement longitudinally thereof for controlling said tape receiving and holding means, said elongated actuating means also being movably mounted on said base for lateral movement toward and away from said presser member, operating means on said presser member coacting with said actuator means for controlling

  • said base further includes a reaction surface formed thereon closely adjacent said tape-receiving plate whereby pivotal movement of said presser member and said pin frame toward said base causes a binding pin to contact said reaction member for securing same to a tape loop disposed between said pin frame and said base, and cutter means disposed adjacent the free end of said presser member and coacting with said reaction member for severing said tape loop.
