Description

UNiTED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HENRY M; HALL, OF DANBY, VERMONT.
IMPROVEMENT IN sHAwL-PlNs.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 36,003, dated July 29, 1862.
. combination.
To enable others to make and use my inventiou,I will proceed to describe its construction as follows, to wit:
A represents the shape ofthe pin, made of steel, which is bent about an inch from the point, and extends to the second bend or curve of the shank B, so as to make the point onefourth of an .inch less in length than the opposite leg and form the proper-shaped hook. The shank B has a head or turned end, C, which is inserted into the button D and permanently soldered or fastened in the center A of the button. The buttonor head D is intended to be made of any suitable shape or material.
The advantage of this pin with its button and double curve is,that it holds the shawl together wherever the wearer desires to connect it, and cannot fall out. W'hen it is attached to one side of a shawl, it is permanently fixed and held by the button and shank to the shawl, and the hook is always in the position to hook and fast-en into the opposite side of the shawl. Its simplicity and convenience make it most useful to our troops now in the army, to fasten their blankets or shawls instantly to suit their comfort, and the .pin cannot be displaced or lost. Another advantage is that it is intended as a hook to suspend their clothes on inside of their tents.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent` is- The hook,in combination with the head, substantially as described, for the purposes herein set forth.
. HENRY M. HALL.
