PATENTEU JUL 6 I971 P/7'@O Mill/00$ INVENTOR BY M W ATTORNEYS ACUPUNCTURATION DEVICE BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to an acupuncturation device. The beneficial effects which can be obtained in the pain treatment by means of acupuncture are well known.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The object of the present invention is to provide an inexpensive device of extremely easy use so as to bring acupuncture and its beneficial effects within everybodys reach.
Thus, by means of the device of the instant invention, it will be possible to carry out such a pain treatment also to persons having no medical knowledge at all, upon themselves or others.
The acupuncturation device according to the present invention comprises a stick-shaped member having a grip portion and a free-rotating wheel, provided with a plurality of pointed teeth on its entire periphery and arranged at one end of said stick.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWING The acupuncturation device will now be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawing, showing a preferred embodiment thereof, and in which:
FIG. 1 is an elevational view of the device, approximately in full-size scale;
FlG. 1A is a cross-sectional view of the grip portion of the device, taken along line A-A of FIG. 1;
FIG. 2 is an enlarged scale plan view of the toothed wheel;
FIG. 3 is a partially sectioned elevational view of the closing cover accompanying the device, approximately in full size scale; and
FIG. 4 is an enlarged scale longitudinal sectional exploded view of the wheel-support unit.
DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT Referring now to the figures of the accompanying drawing, the acupuncturation device according to the present invention comprises a stick 1, preferably made of plastics, having an upper portion 2 of circular cross-sectional area and tapering toward the end so as to form a neck, a lower grip portion 3 having a rounded quadrangular cross-sectional shape so as to make grasp easier (see FIG. 1A) and a bottom end cap 4.
Into the neck end portion of stick 1 a bushing 5 is inserted, provided with an end flange 6, forming the end upper wall of stick I, as well as with outer indented areas 7 adapted to make easier the incorporation of bushing 5, the same also being preferably made of plastics, into stick I, preferably when said stick 1 is still in the curing stage.
Bushing 5 has also a blind hole 8 opening at the center of said upper end flange '6, into which the stem 9 of a stationary pin 10, also preferably made of plastics, is pressure inserted; said pin 10 has a rounded head 11, under which there is a collar l2 acting as the axis around which a wheel 13 is freely rotatable. Said wheel 13 is preferably made of metal and is provided with a plurality of pointed teeth 14 along its entire periphery.
The device of the present invention is accompanied by a hollow closing cover 15, also preferably made of plastics, threading as a sheath on the tapered neck portion 2, going down as much as possible and covering the wheel 13, when the device is being not used.
Operation of the above disclosed device is extremely simple. Having grasped the device at its grip portion 3, the user causes wheel 13 to run on the skin at the aching part, under a light pressure. As a consequence of the rotation of said wheel 13, points of its teeth 14 make a sequence of skin prickings on the interested area so as to develop a pain-treating action according to the principles of acupuncture.
lclaim:
l. A device for acupuncturation which comprises an elongated mem er provided with a gnp portion and with an axial opening at one end of said elongated member; a pin having a head, a stem, and a collar on the stem at the juncture of the stem with the head, the stem being fixedly mounted in the axial opening of said elongated member; and
a free rotatable wheel having pointed teeth around the periphery thereof rotatably mounted on said collar so that the plane of said wheel is substantially normal to the longitudinal axis of said elongated member.
2. The device in accordance with claim 1 wherein a bushing having a central opening and an outwardly extending circular flange is secured in said axial opening and the stem of said pin is fixedly mounted in the central opening of said bushing.
Claims (2)
1. A device for acupuncturation which comprises an elongated member provided with a grip portion and with an axial opening at one end of said elongated member; a pin having a head, a stem, and a collar on the stem at the juncture of the stem with the head, the stem being fixedly mounted in the axial opening of said elongated member; and a free rotatable wheel having pointed teeth around the periphery thereof rotatably mounted on said collar so that the plane of said wheel is substantially normal to the longitudinal axis of said elongated member.
2. The device in accordance with claim 1 wherein a bushing having a central opening and an outwardly extending circular flange is secured in said axial opening and the stem of said pin is fixedly mounted in the central opening of said bushing.
