DETAILED DESCRIPTION The cabinet 20 is provided with a back wall 22, side walls 24 and 26, a bottom wall 28, a top wall 30, and a shelf 32 for holding glasses, etc. The shelf 32 may be supported by affixing the edges thereof in grooves in the side walls 24-26 and the back wall 20. Or this self may be hinged to the inside of the back wall as shown in dotted outline in FIG. 8 and latched in position.
The upper portion of the floor, or extension or platform 34 may be provided with a carpet or other covering 36. As seen in FIG. 1 or 3, the bottom wall of the floor is embellished to take on an ornamental appearance iice when the floor is pivoted into the interior of the cabinet. The floor is pivotally secured by a piano hinge 38 to the upper surface adjacent the front edge of the bottom Wall 28 of the cabinet. The lower edge of the front wall 40 of the bar is secured to the free end of the floor 38 by a piano hinge 42. In order to elfect proper folding of the front wall with the rest of the structure, it was found that the piano hinge should be mounted offset from the rear side of the front wall 40 and the floor 34 by use of appropriate cleats or strips 44 and 46 mounted on the forward end of the floor 34 and adjacent the lower end of the rear face of the front wall respectively, as clearly shown in FIGS. 5 through 8.
The counter top 48 of the bar is formed with depending front and side walls 50 and 52. The top 48 and walls 50-52 are preferably covered with a hard ornamental surface such as Masonite or the like. A portion of the inner surface of the depending wall 50 of the counter top is pivotally secured adjacent the upper edge of the rear side of the front wall 40 by an appropriate piano hinge 54 whereby the counter top may fold inwardly against the rear side of the front wall as shown in FIG. 5, when in closed position.
The side walls of the bar 56 and 58 are pivotally secured adjacent the rear side edges of the front Wall by piano hinges 60 and 62 respectively, as clearly shown in the drawings. Each of the depending walls 52 is provided with clips 64 which releasably retain the side walls in open position and position the counter top in a horizontal plane as shown in FIG. 8. FIG. 11 shows the details of the clip and its attachment to the depending wall 52 of the counter top 48.
It is to be noted, as shown in FIG. 5, that the side walls 56-58 lie against the rear surface of the front wall 40 when in folded position.
If desired, each of the side walls 56-58 may be pro vided with a pair of spaced cleats 66-68 to support a shelf 70 in the event storage is required under the bar itself, when in fully extended position.
To operate the device of FIG. 1, the upper end of the fioor 34 is pulled away from the cabinet and it will pivot around hinge 38, The face of the floor as shown in FIG. 1 will rest on the floor of the room when in fully open position (see FIG. 4). FIG. 3 shows the floor being shifted out of the cabinet. When the extension of platform 34 is placed on the floor of the room, the front of the bar is shifted a substantial distance from the cabinet. The front wall 40 is shifted upwardly to substantially a vertical plane about its hinge 42 to assume the position shown in FIG. 5. The counter top 48 is shifted upwardly about its pivot 54 from the inner surface of the front wall 40 beyond a horizontal plane. The side walls 56 are now moved outwardly from the position shown in FIG. 5 to that shown in FIG. 6. The counter top is then moved downwardly so that the clips 64 will lock the side walls 56 and 58in position. The bar is now ready for operation.
To close the bar, the reverse action is taken. In the event a shelf is provided for the interior of the bar as shown in FIGS. 7 and 8, the shelf 70 must first be withdrawn from between the cleats 66 and 68 and stored within the interior of the cabinet. It is to be noted that the shelf. It is to be noted that the shelf 32 has a Width substantially less than the depth of the front wall, side wall and counter top of the bar and the platform 34 when folded together so as they will readily be wholly within the cabinet, without contact with the front edge of the shelf 32.
In the event a glass case is desired, such sectional case as shown at 72 may be placed on the top wall 30 of the cabinet, to store glasses and/or other items.
It is also especially to be noted from FIGS. 2, 5 and 7 that the floor or platform 34 extends outwardly from the lower edge of the front wall and both side walls. The floor or platform 34 also is of an area to snugly seat in the front opening of the cabinet and is held therein by any suitable hidden latch (not shown).
