Byim 44% GIRDLE WITH CROTCH INSERT FIELD or INVENTION This invention relates to panty girdles; and particularly, to
" panty girdles having provisions for'eliminating the tendency of BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION It has been proposed to insert panels of stretch fabrics at the back of the girdle and generally at the level of the crotch region-This allows theuser to bend, for example, without imposing an upward strain on the hose supported'or suspended by the leg portions of the girdle, while yet allowing proper movement of the girdle at the level of the waist.
- One of the objects of the invention is top rovide a panty girdle of this character that not only accomplishes this function, but that also provides a conformable and comfortable crotch structure. Another object of this invention is to provide a panty girdle of this character having 'a' unique simple pattern whereby fabrics can be economically cut and the resulting parts easily sewn together with uncomplicated machine operations.
' This invention possesses many other-advantages and has other objects which maybe made more clearly apparent from a consideration of one embodimentlof the invention. For this purpose, there is shown a form in the drawings accompanying and forming a part of the present specification, and which drawings are to scale. This form-will now be described in detail, illustrating the general principlesof the invention; but it is to be understood that this detailed description is not to be taken in a limiting sense, since the scope of this invention is best defined by the appended claims.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS FIG. 1 is a front pictorial view of a panty'girdle incorporating the invention shown in place on the body of the wearer, a portion of one leg being broken away. I
FIG. 2 is a three-quarter pictorial view of the panty girdle,
DETAILED DESCRIPTION I The girdle 10 is formed in this instance in four parts, a sheath part 12 made of overcast elastic material that encircles the body of the wearer, a crotch part '14 and two leg parts 16 and 18. The crotch part 14 is made from a band of stretch yarn or equivalent yielding material. The band may be approximately 2 or 2% inches wide for the average figure.
The ends 20 and 22 of the band (FIG- 3) are sewn together by a line of overcast stitching 24 that is preferably longitudinally elastic. However, before the ends of the band are sewn together to form a loop, rectangular sections corresponding to I the leg parts 16 and 18 are attached along opposite side edges 26 and 28 of the'band (FIG. 4). The stitching 24 (FIG. 4) is extended on opposite sides of the'band (not shown) in order correspondingly to form loops that become the leg parts 16 and 18.
The crotch band 14 is longitudinally cut with the ends 30' and 32 of the cut preferably terminatingshort of the line of stitching 24 on .opposite sides thereof. The cut fonns opposed edges 34 and 36. When the crotch part 14 is folded outwardly,
the edges 34 and 36 (FIG. 1) form complementary left and I right segments of a generally circular edge to which'the sheath part 12 is attached, as by a single continuous line of stitching 38 (FIG. 4). The line of stitching 24 that forms the loop falls at the bottom of the crotch and along the inside of the legs.
The inside surfaces of the legs 16 and 18 have circularly extending chevronlike lines of latex material 40 deposited on the fabric. This material 40 imposes a firm friction grip on the top of stockings worn by the user, or on the corresponding parts of panty hose, all for the purpose of keeping the stockings or panty hose in proper position. As the user bends or as his legs move, and as indicatedin FIG. 2, the crotchipart stretches transversely of its length and longitudinally of the body of the wearer. Accordingly, the legs and the waistband stay in proper position, movements of the body notwithstanding. No undue strain is imposed upon the latex material 40 that otherwise would cause it to slip. Repeated adjustments are not required.
The region of the crotch part between the legs of the user is largely free of stitching. A comfortable and conformable crotch structure is the result.
