Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 35,524, dated J uue 10, 186;.

To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, HORATIO Ross JONES,

of the town of Addison, in the county of Steuben, State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Tubes for Garrying Percussion-Gaps and Capping Guns; and the following is a clear and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompa nying drawings, making a part of this specification, in which- Figure 1 shows a longitudinal section through the double capping tube and case. Fig. 2 is an outside edge View of the cappinginstrument.

My invention consists in the construction and application of a spring-catch attached to the rear end of the capping-tube to hold the trough or slide firmly in its position.

To enable others skilled in the art 'to make and apply my improvement to capping-tubes,

I will proceed to describe it more fully, re-

ferring to the drawings, and to the letters marked thereon.

As my invention is directly applied as an improvement to a capping-tube patented to Edgar D. Seely, October 29, 1861, of which Letters Patent I am part owner, by assignment, I do not deem it necessary to go into a full description of his invention by letter,

, but refer to that to show more fully the advantages of my invention.

In Seelys patent there is no device for securing the spring-follower and hold it from pressing against the caps in the trough to force them out while it is being inserted in the tube, the trough beingheld in its place bya thumbscrew. I make my capping-tube double, with two sliding troughs, a I), and a partition, 0, between them, the rear end being closed by a cap and ring, (I, with which to suspend the tube to a belt. In the recess 6, at the rear end, I rivet a steel spring, f, on the under side of which is a catch, c', which fits in and passes claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters I Patent, is-

The spring-catch attached to the rear end of the capping-tube to hold the trough or slide in its place, substantially as and for the purposesherein set forth.
