Description

0. LIBERTY.
BAKER'S OVEN.
Figl Patented Dec. 14, 1886.
' Fig.2.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
OLIVER LIBERTY, OF \VOONSOOKET, RHODE ISLAND.
BAKERS OVEN.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No.354,198, dated December 14, 1886.
Application filed April 16,1886. Serial No.199,13fi. (No model.)
To all whom, it may concern:
Be it known that I, OLIVER LIBERTY, a subject of the Queen of Great Britain, residing at Woonsooket, in the county of Providence and State of Rhode Island, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bakers Ovens; and I do declare the following to'be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters or figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
Figure 1 of the drawings is a horizontal sectional view of my improved oven. Fig. 2 is a front view of the same; and Figs. 3 and 4 are detail views.
My invention relates to bakers ovens; and it consists in the construction and novel combination of parts, as hereinafter described, and pointed out in the claims.
Referring by letter to the accompanying drawings, A designates the brick-work inclosing the tire-box, ash-pit, and bread-oven.
B designates the fire-box, which is composed ofthree or moresections, OD E, offire-clay,having the integral side flanges, b b, and the shoulders I)". These sections are are shape in crosssection, and they lap one over another, so that when in place they form a continuous fire-box. The number of sections of fire-clay may be varied so as to increase or decrease the size of the fire-box.
F is a grate, and G the ash-pit below it.
H designates a pipe, and I the damper therein. The fire-clay sections are secured together by four bolt-rods, c c 0 0 near the corners of the sections.
Jis the bread'oven.
K is'a door at the inner end of the firebox, and L is a door at the outer end-of the fi're box.
M is the damper-rod, which'extends from the smoke-flue to the front of the brick-work, so as to be readily manipulated.
The fire is first built in the fire-box, with the damper in the pipe H closed and the door at the rear of the firebox open, the smoke passing through the rear door into the oven and out at the chimneyfiue, as shown by the arrows. WVhen the oven has become properly heated, a damper, Z, in the chimney is closed, also the rear door to the fire-box, after which the damper in pipe H is opened, which relieves the firebox of the heat and smoke remaining in it, thereby quickly cooling the firebox and to a great extent preserving the firebrick.
Having described this invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, 1s
1. The combination, with the oven, of the fire-box formed of the flanged shouldered sec tions of fire-clay connected together by boltrods,-and the inner and outer doors, substantially as specified.
2. The combination of the oven, the fire-box composed of the flanged and shouldered fireclay sections secured together by bolt-rods, the grate-bars and the inner and outer doors, and a smokeflne, as set forth.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two wisnesses.
11'. OLIVER LIBERTY.
