THIMBLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 353,389, dated November 30, 1886.
Application filed June 19, 1885. Serial No. 169,244.
To @ZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, OTTO E. WEBER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Burlington, inthe county of Des Moines, State of Iowa, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Thimbles, of which the following is aspeciication.
`My invention relates to improvements in thimbles in which an indentated crown is fastened upon the smooth apex of au ordinary thimble; and the object of my improvement is to furnish a thimble with a Crown which can he separated from the thinible when desired. .I attain this object by the mechanism illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in Which- Figure 1 represents a thimhle with a smooth apex. Fig. 2 represents an indentated crown.

In the drawings, A represents an ordinary thirnlole with a smooth apex, a, which apex` may be either open or closed,`as desired.
B is the indentated crown of a thimble7 and (Model.)
is made large enough so that it will snugly t upon a. In order to secure a firm hold for the crown upon the thiinble7 the same may be fastened upon a by means of an ordinary screw-thread, or by any other ordinary locking device.
The operation of my invention will be readily understood from the foregoing description, taken in connection with the drawings hereto attached. Uien the crown of the thimble is worn out by use or otherwise, it can be easily detached from the thimble and a new one substituted.
Vhat I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
lThe combination of a thimble-stock having a smooth apex and a removable pnnctured crown, substantially as and for the purpose described.
