Definitions

  • the improvements aim at obtaining, in a simple and efiicient way, windows or other types of closures, such as cabinets, shopwindows, partitions and light fittings, so that their assembly on the spot becomes easy', further facilitating maintenance and repair of some of their components, and especially the replacement of broken panes, particularly those made from glass.
  • the improvements essentially reside in the composition of the closure in the form of a guiding frame made up of two detachable sections, in which the fixed panes are locked through two box elements that are assembled detachably in the bottom of the guiding frame, while the sliding panes are fixed to their corresponding supporting sections by means of two end box elements locked to the supporting sections through screws and/or other means of fixation.
  • Another feature of the invention is the provision of resilient strips in the box elements to provide a resilient fixation of the glass panes or their equivalent, in the box elements, thus compensating for any dimensional discrepancy of the panes, the box elements described serving otherwise to act as slidable components between sliding and fixed panes, thus eliminating every possible friction between them.
  • Another feature of the improvements described is the assembly of the spring means intended to stabilize the sliding panes, by means of notches provided in the inner edge of the supporting sections for the panes, the spring means being caught by their mid part between the section and the box elements, pressure being ensured by the interlocking elements that x the boxes against the supporting sections.
  • FIG. l is a cross section of the main elements composing the regulated window opening of the invention.
  • FIG. 2 is a lengthwise section of the assembly.
  • FIG. 3 illustrates in detail the supporting section for sliding panes.
  • FIG. 4 is a view of the box element serving to fix the sliding panes into their supporting section.
  • FIG. 5 is a view of the box element serving to fix the non-sliding panes into their supporting section.
  • FIG. 6 is a cross section of another embodiment of the guiding frame of the invention.
  • the improved regulated window opening of the invention comprises a guiding frame formed by two sections 1 and 2, the former having a central web part and on its edges extensions in the shape of fianges 3 and 4, projecting in opposite directions.
  • Flange 3 has holes 5 for fixation on the front face of frame 6 of the window or opening concerned.
  • the other section 2 is formed by a plate having a lengthwise part 7 intended to cover the flange 3 of section 1, this part 7 having, on its edge, a bent lip 8 covering the edge of fiange 3.
  • This section 2 is extended on the edge opposite to bending 8, to form a part 9 the width of which is similar to that of flange 4 on section 1, there being, between parts 7 and 8 of section 2, a step 10 in a lengthwise direction.
  • the box element 12 shows perforations 15 die cut to form fianges 16, through which a perfect assembly of panes 11 is obtained, both as regards the box elements and the guiding frame.
  • the sliding panes or glass strips 17 are fixed to their corresponding supporting sections 18, similarly through box elements 19 into which both ends of the panes snugly fit, such box elements comprising two iianlges that extend out and are suitably provided with holes 21 for their fixation by means of screws on section 18, which for this purpose also has corresponding holes 22.
  • the box elements 19 are also die cut at 23 to form flanges 24 allowing for a resilient adjustment of the ends o-f panes 17 into the box elements.
  • the box elements of the two outer panes do not comprise, at least on the end that fits against such guiding frame, fiange 20, but instead they have any other suitable means of slidable xation against section 18.
  • section 18 and section 2 there are fitted strip spring means 25 in the shape of a double arch plus a fiat length, this flat length serving to fix the spring means on section 18, underneath the latter, and leaving the arched parts protruding through pairs of notches 26 that are provided on section 18.
  • the spring means thus fitted are held in their position, when placed side by-side, against the straight middle part thereof, the corresponding box elements 19, thus fixing the screws, the box elements and the spring means on section 18.
  • Reference 27 refers to holes provided Ifor the fixation of section 2 on the window frame, these holes coinciding with holes 5 on section 1, so that the same screws are used; alternatively, section 2 can be fixed on the Window frame through its own screws, in which case section 1 will have corresponding holes for passing these other screws.
  • Holes 13 allow Ifor the fixation of non-sliding or fixed panes 11 in those cases where section 2 is assembled on the outer face, when the sliding panes 17 are placed adjacent flange 4 of section 2.
  • Section 1 corresponding to the bottom of the window, may, instead of holes 13 and 13', have any other holes provided similarly on its middle part, to allow for proper draining.
  • the fixation of panes into their end box elements can be supplemented by adding a suitable adhesive or caulking material.
  • sections 1 and 2 may be modified as regards flange 3 and part 7 of either section, through which both sections are fixed to each other, and to their corresponding frame.
  • flange 3 may be replaced by a small ange 3 turned in the salme direction as flange 4 of section 1
  • part 7 of section 2 may in turn be replaced by flange 7', bent against the middle part of section 1 and ange 3 thereof.
  • Improvements in the manufacture of regulated window openings, particularly fixed and slidable window panes comprising, in combination, first and second elongated sections conjointly defining a window pane mounting and guiding frame for mounting in the frame of a window opening; said first section including an elongated substantially planar central web part having flanges extending from each of its opposite edges; said second section including a first web part extending in spaced parallel relation to one of said anges to define a mounting and guiding channel and a second web part juxtaposed on said first section, said second web part and said first section having cooperating longitudinally extending abutting portions for fixed relative positioning thereof transversely of said sections; said second web part and said first section being formed for conjoint securement to the frame of the window opening.
  • Improvements in the manufacture of regulated window openings, particularly fixed and slidable window panes comprising a guiding frame made up of two sections coupled lengthwise, one of which has a middle part whose edges are extended to form flanges, While the other section has a part whose Width is of the order of that of one of said flanges, in order 4 to form the guiding frame, the latter section having a part adapted to fixed the former section, and both sections, in turn, being constructed and arranged for securement to the frame of the window or opening concerned, the fixed panes being locked on their guiding frame through box elements at either end, the box elements having projections arranged to engage corresponding apertures in the middle part of the first section of the guiding frame, the sliding panes being fixed into corresponding supporting sections through box elements at either end, and also through slida'ble connecting means.
