Cl. 57-58.89 1 Claim ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A device is provided for effecting spindleless y-arn spinning and is characterized by conveying slivers of fiber along at least two separate paths through canals leading to a twisting and forming region constituted by a rotating annular member positioned adjacent a separator. The slivers are introduced together into the annular member and they are twisted and combined therein to form the produced yarn. The latter is removed from the annular member through a separator in a direction opposite that in which the slivers were introduced.
This invention relates to spinning processes and more particularly to spindleless spinning processes and means for carrying out such processes.
Already known are processes of spindleless yarn spinning in which the sliver emerging from the draft system is directed to the twisting and forming device through one canal. The sliver is fed by a vacuum created with positive air exhaust. Further, the ready sliver is delivered from this device. The sliver count is usually twice or even more than the count of the produced yarn. The device used for carrying out this process comprises a separator and a rotating twisting and forming chamber arranged in one body with -a cover and provided with a canal for feeding the sliver emerging from the draft system.
The prior art processes and means for carrying-out the same render difficult the manufacturing of yarn of different counts, since this requires a high speed rotation of the front members of the draft system; as a result the power consumption is increased, the noise is great, and the quality of produced yarn is impaired.
An object of this invention is the provision of a device for effecting spindleless yarn spinning with yarn manufacture at lower rotational speeds of the front members of the draft system, while ensuring a better quality of produced yarn.
These and other objects are achieved, according to the invention, by feeding the sliver into the twisting and forming device through at least two canals.
The device according to the invention, is provided with at least two canals for feeding the sliver across the separator into the twisting and forming chamber, said canals being disposed between the drafting system and the cover end in the chamber throat and inclined towards the cover so that the sliver is fed in the direction of the twisting and forming chamber.
The sliver fed into the device by several canals may have a corrected count not more than twice the count of produced yarn.
This device makes it possible to blend fibres of various color and type in various ratios and to reduce the speed of sliver delivery from the draft system, creating more favorable conditions for yarn formation.
For a better understanding of the invention a description of one of the embodiments thereof is given below with reference to the appended drawing, wherein:
FIG. 1 is an elevation view of the device according to the invention, partly in cross section.
FIG. 2 is a top view of the device; and
FIG. 3 is a section taken on either line IIIIII in FIG. 2.
The device for spindleless yarn spinning comprises a rotating twisting and forming chamber 1 (FIG. 1) arranged in a body 2 with cover 3 and two cannals 4 disposed between the draft system 5 and the end of cover 3 in the throat of chamber 1 and intended for feeding sliver 6 into chamber 1 by vacuum, the air being positively exhausted through the aperture 7 and branch pipe 8. The canals 4 are inclined relative the cover 3 so that the sliver 6 is fed in the direction of chamber 1 rotation (as illustrated in FIGS. 2 and 3).
The incorporation of two canals makes it possible to produce yarn at lower speeds of the delivery of sliver 6 from the draft system 5 thus obtaining the relation between the corrected count of the sliver 6 (N coming out of the draft system and the count of produced yarn (N i.e. N 2N Thus, the sliver corrected count is not more than twice the count of the produced yarn. Moreover, owing to the arrangement of the two canals, it is possible to effect blending of various quantities of fibres of a different color and type e.'g. to obtain melanges.
At a given ratio, the count of the produced yarn is determined by the speed of yarn delivery. The number of canals 4 may be increased, but the relation between N and N remains the same.
The chamber 1 rotates on shaft 9. The ready yarn comes out through the holes of bushing 10. The chamber 1 is covered on top with cover 3 and separator 11 for directing the sliver to the wall of chamber 1. The chamber 1 is made as a body of revolution and is provided with wedge-shaped groove 12.
Examples are given below using the aforementioned ratio N 2N for different yarn counts and at various numbers of canals 4.
EXAMPLE I Yarn No. 40 is to be manufactured A sliver with a count N =120 is fed through two canals 4 into the twisting and forming chamber 1.
The corrected count of the sliver is calculated by the formula:
1 1 N 51 N s2 N as and so on, wvhere N N N and so on, are the sliver counts in each cannal 4.
Consequently: N =1.5N i.e. the speed of sliver feed is 1.5 times greater than the speed of yarn delivery.
Further, ready yarn is delivered from the hole of bushing 10 for subsequent winding.
EXAMPLE II Yarn No. 60 is to be manufactured A sliver with a .count of No. 120 is fed through one canal and a sliver with a count of No. is fed through the other canal into the twisting and forming chamber.
The corrected count is determined by the aforementioned formula and is equal to riva -O- Consequently N =O.8N i.e. the sliver feeding speed is less than the speed of yarn delivery.
EXAMPLE 'III Yarn No. 40 is manufactured Sliver with a count of 120 i.e. N =l20 is fed through three canals 4 into the twisting and forming chamber 1.
The corrected count is calculated in the same way as for the first two examples and is equal to:

Thus independently of the count of produced yarn, the relation is N 2N What is claimed is:
1. A device for effecting spindleless yarn spinning comprising a separator, a rotatable twisting and forming chamber, a draft system for supplying sliver to said rotatable chamber, a body receiving said rotatable chamber, a cover on said body with openings through which the sliver from the draft system is fed by vacuum with positive air exhaust, at least two canals extending in said openings and leading to said draft system for feeding the sliver across the separator into said chamber, said canals being inclined to the cover so that the sliver is fed in the direction of rotation of the twisting and forming chamber.
