PACKAGE AND MANUFACTURER OF SMALL WHEELBARROWS Filed May 31, 1969 xzvvs/vrae Z3 EWE T 11/. TUNA/ELL United States Patent O US. Cl. 31235 1 Claim ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A kit for assembling a miniature wheelbarrow, the kit including all the components comprising the wheelbarrow frame, body and wheel, together with appropriate nails or the like.
This invention relates generally to kits for craftsmen. More specifically it relates to a kit for assembling a miniature wheelbarrow.
A principal object of the present invention is to provide a kit for assembling a wheelbarrow, and which after assembly may be used either as a childs toy, as a decorative center piece upon a desk or table, as a novelty or for practical purposes, holding various items.
Yet another object of the present invention is to provide a wheelbarrow kit wherein the assembled wheelbarrow may provide support means for a greeting card supported in a display position.
Yet a further object is to provide a wheelbarrow kit wherein the wheelbarrow may serve as a stand for a clock.
Yet a further object is to provide a wheelbarrow kit wherein the wheelbarrow may be used to contain candy or cigarettes, and from which they may be easily taken.
Other objects of the present invention are to provide a wheelbarrow kit which is simple in design, inexpensive.
to manufacture, rugged in construction, easy to use and efiicient in operation.
These and other objects will be readily evident upon a study of the following specification and the accompanying drawing wherein:
FIGURE 1 is a lay out view of the components comprising the present invention;
FIGURE 2 is a side elevation view of a wheelbarrow assembled from the components illustrated in FIGURE 1; and
FIGURE 3 is a perspective view of a modified form of the present invention which is shown for use as a clock stand, a greeting card display stand and as a tray for carrying cigarettes. i
Referring now to the drawing in detail, and more particularly to FIGS. 1 and 2 thereof, the reference numeral represents a wheelbarrow kit according to the present invention wherein there are a plurality of components that are supplied to the craftsman in a disassembled state, and which the craftsman then assemblies together so as to form the wheelbarrow 11 shown completed in FIG. 2 of the drawing.
The kit 10 includes a right frame member 12 and a left frame member 13, each of the members having an opening 14 in one end thereof so as to receive a wooden peg 15 upon which a wooden wheel 16 is mounted. These components when assembled form the frame 17 upon which the body 18 is secured. The body 18 includes a bottom panel 19, opposite side panels 20 and a front panel 21. It is to be noted that the frame members 12 and 13 each include a handle 22 at one end which is opposite to the end having the opening 14, each frame member further including a leg 23.
In operative use, the components are secured together by use of either screws, nails or adhesive substances so as to produce the miniature wheelbarrow shown in FIG. 2.
In a modified form of the present invention, as shown in FIGURE 3 of the drawing, a wheelbarrow 24 is shown which is comprised of the above identified components and which further includes a clock 25 mounted upon one of the panels of the body so that the wheelbarrow may serve as a clock stand. Additionally the wheelbarrow includes a generally U-shaped wire frame 26 secured to one of the upstanding panels between which a greeting card 27 may be supported in a display position.
Additionally the wheelbarrow 24 may be utilized for supporting a plurality of cigarettes 28 upon the body 18, the wheelbarrow also including a cigarette presenting mechanism 29 for the purpose of raising the same in a tilted position, as indicated by the phantom lines in FIG. 3, so that a person may conveniently grasp one of them within his hand. The presenting mechanism 29 includes a vertical slot 30 in one of the side panels, the slot receiving a generally V configurated bar 31 therethrough, the bar having a convenient handle 32 at its outer end for purpose of manual operation between a persons fingers, the opposite end of the bar 31 resting adjacent the upper side of the bottom panel 19, and upon which the cigarettes 28 are placed as shown. In order to present cigarettes, a person needls only to raise the knob 32 upwardly in the slot 30, thereby causing the bar 31 to lift upwardly one end of the cigarettes, thus allowing easy grasp thereof by a person. After only a few of the cigarettes remain within the body of the wheelbarrow, the V configurated bar will cause the remaining few to be tilted toward the center away from the side panels of the body, thus making it easy to grasp the cigarettes.
While various changes may be made in the detailed construction, it is understood that such changes will be within the spirit and scope of the present invention.
I claim:
