BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION Field of the invention This invention relates to the art of tissue roll dispensers and more particularly to 'a new and improved tissue roll dispenser for serving two adjacent stalls wherein the dispenser includes a pair of adjustable flange members.
Description of the prior art The prior art, such as disclosed in our United States Patents 3,197,149, 3,241,711 and our United States patent application Ser. No. 561,995, now Patent No. 3,416,744 illustrate the use of one tissue roll dispenser for one toilet stall, which art is well known;
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION Yet another object of the present invention is to prov vide a new and improved dual compartment tissue roll dispenser having adjustable flange members for mounting the dispenser in varying dimensioned walls between two adjacent toilet stalls.
Another object is to provide a new and improved tissue roll dispenser having parallel space walls each of which is provided with openings for providing accessability to tissue rolls in separate adjacent toilet stalls.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS FIG. 1 is a top view of the dual compartment tissue roll dispenser of the present invention illustrating the relationship of a pair of adjustable flange members relative to a pair of slots in the upper portion of the dispenser;
FIG. 2 is a front view of the dual compartment tissue roll dispenser of the present invention illustrating one of the parallel side walls having an opening in the lowermost portion thereof, and one of the adjustable flange members;
FIG. 3 is an elevated perspective view of the dual compartment tissue roll dispenser of the present invention illustrating a relationship of diagonally positioned tissue rolls relative to adjacent toilet stalls, and the relationship of the adjustable flange members to a partition .stall wall;
, and
Patented Oct. 28, 1969 ice FIG. 4 is a partial view taken along line 44 of FIG. 2 illustrating the relationship of a pair of hidden flange retainer members and one of the slots in the upper portion of the tissue roll dispenser.
DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT Attention is directed to FIGS. 1, 2, and 3 wherein the dual compartment tissue roll dispenser of the present invention is generally designated by the numeral 10. The dispenser 10 operates in substantially the same manner as disclosed in our copending application Ser. No. 561,995 now Patent No. 3,416,744 for a Tissue Roll Dispenser in that other rolls of tissue are held in reserve until the exposed tissue roll is used and thereafter reserve tissue rolls are moved into dispensing position for use with the dispenser automatically signaling that the reserve tissue roll space of the dispenser is empty.
As illustrated in FIGS. 1, 2 and 3 the dual compartment tissue roll dispenser 10 of the present invention includes a housing having parallel side walls and 16, top and bottom walls 17 and 18 and end walls 19 and 20.
Each of the side walls 15 and 16 includes a front panel 21 in substantially one side of each of the walls 16, 17 and which extends longitudinally from the top wall 17 downwardly to the bottom wall 18. An opening 22 is provided in the lowermost portion of each of the panels 21 for receiving and exposing the tissue roll T for use. As illustrated in FIG. 3 each of the openings 21 are diagonally positioned relative to each other in one of each of the panels 21. As disclosed in our United States patent application Ser. No. 561,995 now Patent No. 3,416,744 each panel 21 is provided with a lock or closing member 25 having a key slot 26 for opening of the panel 21 if the reserve tissue space of the housing 11 is empty.
A manually actuated depressable tab 30* is positioned adjacent the uppermost portion of each of the openings 22 as disclosed in our prior US. patent application Ser. No. 561,995 now Patent No. 3,416,744 for enabling reserve tissue rolls (not shown) positioned above each of the openings 22 to be postioned in such openings 22 when the exposed tissue roll has been completely used and for further indicating that the upper reserve tissue space above the respective openings 22 of the housing 11 is empty and does not contain reserve tissue rolls. Of course, it is to be understood that each panel 21 and its respective tab 30 control only the tissue roll in its respective opening 22 and the reserve tissue roll positioned thereabove, and that the diagonally positioned panels 21 and tabs 30 operate independently of each other in separate, respective stalls.
As illustrated in FIGS. 1 and 3, a pair of adjustable flange members and 41 extend around the circumference of the housing 11 in slidable contact with the top and bottom walls 17 and 18 and side walls 19 and 20. Each flange member 40, 41 includes an outer partition wall surface 45 and spacing lip 46. As illustrated in FIGS. 1 and 3 each flange member 40 and 41 includes an inwardly facing tab around its circumferential extent (not shown) which tab contacts the top, bottom and side walls 17, 18, 19 and 20, respectively of the housing 11 for retention of the flange members 40, 41 with the housing 11.
To further insure retention of the flange members 40 and 41 with the housing 11 a pair of arm tabs are mounted with each tab 50a contacting the top wall 17 by brads 56. A pair of slots are-formed in the top wall 17 and are positioned transverse to the tabs 50a. One of each of a plurality of recessed screws 62 is mounted with the opposite end of one of each of the arm tabs 55. As illustrated in FIG. 1, one of each of the pair of arm tabs 55 is secured with each tab 50a and is positioned opposite a corresponding arm tab 55 iinmediately adjacent one of the pair of slots 60. One of each of the recessed screws 62 is secured with one of each of the ends of the arm tabs 55 extending over the slot 60 by inserting the end of the screws 62 up through the slots 60 such that the heads 62' of each of the screws 62 is positioned inside the housing 11. The screw heads 62 are larger than the slots 60 to retain the flange members 40 and 41 in an adjustable spaced relationship relative to the housing 11 and to prevent the flange members 40 and 41 from sliding off the housing 11.
In the operation of the invention the dual compartment tissue roll dispenser is positioned in an opening of a toilet stall wall or partition wall between two adjoining toilet stalls such as illustrated by the wall 70 with the side A representing one side of the partition stall wall and the side B representing the other side of the partition stall wall.
The space 80 between the lips 46 of flange members 40 and 41 is adjustable by shoving or pushing the flange members which slides the tabs 50 on the housing 11. To prevent the flange members 40 and 41 from sliding off the housing 11 the recessed screw heads 62 travel in the slots 60 until the heads 62' contact the adjacent portion of the top wall 17 to thereby restrict travel of the flange members 40 or 41. When the space 80 has been adjusted properly to the width of wall 70, the lips 46 contact side walls A and B, respectively of the wall 70 to retain the tissue roll dispenser 10 of the present invnetion in the wall for use.
With the dual compartment tissue roll dispenser 10 of the present invention in position the individuals in each of the separate stalls such as defined by the side walls A and B of the wall 70 have access to the separate respective tissue rolls T in the openings 22 in each of the side walls 15 and 16 respectively of the housing 11.
While the drawings illustrate that the openings 22 in each respective side wall 15 and 16 are positioned diagonally relative to each other in each of the respective walls, it is to be understood that each opening 22 in each of the side walls 15 and 16 may be disposed directly opposite each other without departing from the scope of this invention.
The foregoing disclosure and description of the invention are illustrative and explanatory thereof and various changes in the size, shape and materials, as well as in the details of the illustrated construction, may be made within the scope of the appended claims without departing from the spirit of the invention. 4
