Be it known that a citizen of the UnitedState's, of Philadelphia, county of and .State of Pennsylvania, an Improvement in Means for Dispensing Toilet-Pa er, of whichthe following is a specificatlonl.

My invention has reference to method and means for dispensing folded paper articles from cabinets, and

more particularly in re-. spect to what are. paper towels. Heretofore, in cabinets for dispensing interfold paper towels, thecxposed flap or tab of the lo-wermost towel, when pulled, will in the withdrawing of the said towel, bring into view and exposure a flap or tab of the next lowermost towel, and so on; but the objection to this the fact that a person may rapidly pull out all of the towels, to waste the articles because they Were too easy of withdrawal, The object of my ina cablnet containing thesaid tab or flap into an exposed position through a suitable aperture in the cabinet or case, whereby saidtab may be grasped and the towel withdrawn, said act bringing the tab of the next lowermost towel into position to be similarly concealed or protected but also adapted to be pro ected into an exposed condition as in the first instance by the operation of the aforesaid manually operable means.

My invention consists in the aforesaid method and means for dispensing paper towels on similar articles from an inclosed cabinet, whereinxthe pulling of one towel brings a tab of the next towel into a shielded position and then to be brought into an exposed position by the manually operable means, so that-there are two successive operations to position the flap of an inclosed towel whereby it may be positively withdrawn from the cabinet; all of'which is more fully set out hereinafter and defined in the My invent-ion will he better understood by Specification of Letters Patent.

In this way there are two manual operations necessary to bring the tab 12- into a position that it may be grasped, the first of these being due to the manipulation in withdrawing the previous towel, and the second operation being in the' hinged door to bring the tab or flap 12 to the outside thereof.

In the case of the constructions shown in Figs. 3 and 4, the pivoted hinged part 7 of Figs. 1 and 2'is modified in the form indicated at. 7 which constitutes a transverse hinged frame having a' forward projecting portion or blade 7" at its free end; spring 9 of any suitable construction may be employed to hold the pivoted transverse hinged frame 7 into a position back of the .depending flap 12 as shown. Moreover, the lower part 2" of the cabinet is formed rigid all the way. around and provides the permanent transverse slot 6 throu h which the tab 12 is to be projected. The projecting blade end 7 of the frame 7 is formed with a hooked portion at 13, the edge of the blade 7 being bent backward as clearly indicated in Fig. 4. I have described my improved method and means in that particularity deem tobe the best exposition of my mvene tion, and that which I prefer in eom'mei'cial practice, but I do not restrict or confine myself to'the minor secondary details as such variations may be resorted to as matters of mechanical skill and withoutv a departure from the spirit of the invention.
