A6315 9/14; A63h 33/26 U.S. Cl. 273-86 Claim ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This invention relates to competitively played games and more particularly to a magnetically operated boat game.

It is therefore the main purpose of this invention to provide a racing boat game which -will be composed of a leg supported base in which water is received and the boats having a recessed opening in the bow area which is secured a soft iron member which is attracted to a magnet secured and imbedded Within a stick which is held by the players and moved underneath the bottom of the -base portion of the invention.

Another object of this invention is to provide a racing boat game which will have a plurality of upwardly extending projections beneath the Water, the projections snappingly engaging the base of the ag members which are spaced in various pattern groups so as to provide obstacles around which the boats have to be guided, both providing a highly skilled novel game for the players.

vStill another object of this invention is to provide a racing boat game which will utilize both power boats and sail boats to add to the variation of the game.

'Other objects of the present invention is to provide a racing boat game which is simple in design, inexpensive to manufacture, rugged in construction, easy to use and eflicient in operation.

These and other objects will be readily seen from a study of the following specification taken in connection with the accompanying drawing wherein:

FIGURE 1 is a top plan view of the present invention;

FIGURE 2 is a cross-sectional view taken on the line 2-2 of FIGURE l;

FIGURE 3 is a perspective view of a guide stick used to play the game;

FIGURE 4 is a sectional, vertical view showing the method `of attaching iiags, scenery, etc., and

FIGURE 5 is a fragmentary side elevation of one of the boats used in this game.

According to this invention, a racing boat game is provided with a rectangular conligurated basin 11 which is supported upon legs 12 for a purpose which hereinafter will be described. In the upper portion of basin 11 water 13 is received and a plurality of agpoles 14 having hollow conical bases 15 are snapably engaged with a conical projection 16, the ball end 17 of projection 16 being 3,471,151 Patented Oct. 7 1969 ICC snapably engaged Within the socket 18 of base 15. The conical projections 16 are integral with and extend upwards from bottom 19 of basin 11.

vIt shall be noted that fiagpole 14 may be placed in various positions to form different patterns to obstruct the path of boats 20 or 20.

It shall be further noted that a rectangular starting liag (not shown) may be also utilized and snappingly engaged onto a conical projection 16. A soft iron member 21is secured within a recessed opening 21 of boat 20 and 25 and in conjunction with magnet 24 which is secut-,red Within the end portion 25 of stick 23, allow the boats 20 and 20' to be guided toward the finished line. Stick 23 is also provided with an elongated handle 26 to allow for handle grip means to maneuver magnet 24 beneath the basin 11.

In use, two players will each have a stick 23 containing magnet 24 and by placing it against the bottom surface of basin 11 may attract the iron member 21 within the boats 20for 25, thus propelling by magnetic force across to the finish line which constitutes the end of basin 11.

In order to win the game 10, the contestants have to pass through all of the patterns created by liagpole 14 and without failure and in the shortest possible time.

What I now claim is:

1. A magnetically operated racing boat game, comprising in combination, a water lled basin of rectangular plan configuration, said basin being supported in elevated position upon a plurality of legs, a pair of boats floating in said water of said basin, each boat having a soft iron member in the bow portion thereof, a pair of separate sticks each having one end accessible against the underside of said basin, said basin including a fiat bottom wall and an upstanding peripheral Wall, each said boat having said soft iron member so disposed that, in the absence of said water, said members would be in sliding engagement with an upper side of said bottom wall, upon said Water, each said stick end having a magnet for attracting said soft iron member and thus pulling said boat horizontally across said basin, each said stick end having a circular portion with said magnet imbedded therein, said magnet comprising an elongated rectangular element extending transverse on said circular portion with the poles thereof accordingly being transversely disposed, and a plurality of flag poles for indicating a race course, each flag pole including a conical, upward projection upon said bottom wall of said basin, the upper end of said projection being of spherical opening on the underside of a hollow base placed thereupon, said base carrying an upstanding liag pole stick with a lag at the upper end thereof.
