Cl. 58-58 3 Claims ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A combination of a timekeeping device, such as a wristwatch, and a substantially transparent sticker which adheres to the glass cover of the timekeeping device, the sticker having a calendar for one""'month printed on it, the printed characters taking up a minor proportion of the area of the sticker, whereby the user of the timekeeping device can observe the days and dates directly on the calendar-sticker, and/or the minutes and hours directly through the calendar-sticker.

BACKGROUND OF THE'INVENTION Field of the invention The subject invention relates to a combination of a timekeeping device, such as a wristwatch, and a transparent, adherent calendar-sticker.

Description of prior art Previously, calendar watches displayed either the date, or the date and the day of the week. These watches were deficient only if one desired to know about other days of the same month (e.g Does Christmas come on a Thursday this year?). Obviously knowing that the present date Monday, Dec. 12, does not-without additional calculationstell you the day of the Week upon which Christmas falls.

To overcome the above deficiency, metal, metal-foil and metal-paper calendars which Wrap around the strap or band of a wristwatch have become common. These certainly overcome the above deficiencies of calendar watches without such a calendar. However, the user must still look both at the face of the watch to get the time and then at the adjacent calendar on the strap of the watch in order to get all his adjacent dates or days.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The subject invention provides a wristwatch and monthly calendar combination whereby the user can simultaneously observe the time of day and the complete monthly calendar by observing just the single face of the timekeeping device through the substantially transparent calendar-sticker which adheres to the watchs glass cover or crystal, Briefly, the invention comprises a combination of a timekeeping device having a time displaying means having a face displaying the time of day, a transparent cover means covering the face, and a substantially transparent sticker removably adherent to the cover means and directly over the face, the sticker having printed thereupon a calendar for one month, the printed characters taking up a minor proportion of the area of the sticker, whereby the user of the timekeeping device can observe the face of the device directly through the sticker.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS The details of the invention will be better understood from the following description, including the drawing in which:

3,464,200 Patented Sept. 2, 1969 DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS Referring to FIG. 1, a wristwatch 10 having a strap or band 11 is shown. The face 12 of the watch has indications 13 which denote the hours, The position of hands 14 shows the exact present minute and hour. The watch also includes a glass cover, or crystal, 15 which protects the face and the movement from dirt.

In accordance with the invention, a transparent sticker 16 is affixed to the transparent cover or crystal 15 directly over the face 12. The sticker is substantially transparent and adherent to the crystal 15. Sticker 16 has the printed characters 17 which are printed so as to take up only a minor proportion of the area of the sticker, as shown. Preferably these characters are printed in a transparent ink. There being two types of conventional inks; transparent and opaque. The use of transparent ink is preferred in order to minimize any shadows from the printed characters and thereby make the face 12 of the watch more visible and the numerals more legible through the transparent sticker 16. The user of the watch can thus observe substantially the entire face 12 directly through the calendar sticker 16. The name of the month 17 along with the year are also printed on the calendarsticker, as shown.

As an additional advantage, the transparent calendar, made of a hard acetate or polyester material, serves as a protective layer, guarding the clear surface of a watch crystal, for example, against nicks and scratches and other damage.

FIG. 2 depicts the stickers of this invention as normally transported prior to use. Twelve substantially transparent stickers 21, each of which is adapted to adhere to and to be easily and cleanly removable from the transparent cover or crystal 15 of the timekeeping device or wristwatch 10 (shown in FIG. 1), a calendar for a different one of the twelve months of the year printed upon it, as shown. The printed "characters take up a minor proportion of the area of the stickers, These twelve stickers are combined and affixed to a temporary paper backing means 20 which removably holds all of the stickers, whereby the stickers may be easily removed to and affixed to the cover of the timekeeping device.

Similarly, the invention also is applicable to household clocks and any other conventional timekeeping means. Other improvements or modifications may be made by one skilled in the art without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention, as set forth in the claims which follow.

What is claimed is:

1.
