UNITED STATES PATENT Orrreelo JOHN FISCHER, OF LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY.
SHAFT-TUG.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 345,038, dated July G, 1886 Serial No. 180,307. (No model.)
To all whont ifmay concern.-
Be itknown that 1, JOHN FISCHER, ofLouisville, in the county of Jefferson and State of Kentucky, have invented a new and Improved Shaft-Tug, of which the followingjis a full, clear, and exact description.
The object of my invention is to provide a new and improved shaft-tug, which is simple in construction, strong and durable, and effective in use.
The invention consists in a peculiarly-eonstructed metal frame, and combination of the same with other parts, all as will be fully described hereinafter, and set forth in the claims.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawing forming a part of this specification, in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in the figure.
The figure is a perspective view of my im proved shaft-tug.
The square metal frame A is provided with the prong B, which projects inward from the middle of one side of the frame, and which prong is'straight and permanently fixed. A strap, 0, is secured to that part or piece of the frame A from which the prong B projects, and is provided with holes D or slots.
The free end of the strap is passed through the frame, as shown in the figure, and the prong B is passed through one of the said apertures.
Having thus fully described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- 1. As an improved article of manufacture, the frame A, having cross-bars between its ends, the vertical prong B on its lower crossbar, and.the horizontal prong G on the upper intermediate cross-bar and at right angles to the lower prong, and the strap 0, secured at one end to the lower cross-piece of the frame, and having holes or slots D at its other end, to receive the prong B when the strap islooped around a shaft, substantially as set forth.
2. In a thill-tug, the frame A, having end and intermediate cross-pieces, a tongue, B, projecting upward from the inner face of the lower erosspieee, and the tongue G, projecting outward from the upper intermediate cross-piece at right angles to the tongue B, substantially as set forth.
JOHN FISCHER.
