NITED TES ATET rricn,
SPOOL-HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 343,749, dated June 15, 1886.
Serial No. 191,340. (No model.)
To aZZ whom/ it may concern.-
Be it known that I, BENJAMIN FRANK BAKER, of Fairville, in the county of St. John, Province of New Brunswick, and Dominion of Canada, have invented a new and Improved Spool-Holder, of which the following is afull, clear, and exact description.
The object of my invention is to provide a new and improved spool-holder adapted to hold any desired number of spools of different lengths, which holder can be conveniently hung up to unwind the thread from the spool or reel for use in sewing, or for other purposes.
The invention consists in a casing provided with stationary holders formed of spring-wires.
The invention also consists in various parts and details and combinations of the same, as will be fully described hereinafter, and then pointed out in-the claims.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in both the figures.
Figure 1 is a perspective view of my improved spool-holder. Fig. 2 is a cross-sectional view of the same.
The spool-holder A consists of the casing B, made of any suitable material and of any de sired number of holders 0, formed of springwire.
The casing B consists of a wedge-shaped piece, D, provided with the sides E E, which are farther apart at the top than at the bottom.
The holders 0 are each formed of a piece of spring-wirehaving oneshortencha, terminating in a coil, 1), from which the other (longer) end, 0, extends at right angles to the end a. The short end a is soldered or otherwise fastened to the inner surface of the side E, the coil 1) ting of such movement, and slipping the spools of thread centrally on said arms 0, so that the ends of the spools pass freely between the sides E and E of the casing B.
The casing B is made wedge-shaped, so as to accommodate spools of different sizes.
The threads may be unwound from their respective reels or spools, which rotate between the sides E E on the long ends a of the holders O.
The sp0ol-holder can be hung up at any convenient place by the eye F, formed on the upper end of the part D of the casing B.
Having thus fully described my invention, 1 claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- 1. The combination, with a casing, of holders each formed of a spring wire having its ends atright angles to each other and connected by a coil, and having one end attached to one side of the casing, substantiall y as herein shown and described.
2. As an improved article of manufacture,a spool-holder consisting of the wedgeshaped casing B, provided with the eye F, and the springwvire holders 0, having their ends a c at right angles to each other and connected by the coil 1), the ends a of the saidholders being secured to one side of the casing, as set forth.
BENJAMIN FRANK BAKER.
