NITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOHN P. SCHI ISSLER, JR, AND WILLIAM FREDRIOKS, OF N EIV YORK, N. Y.
SUSPENSION-CLASP FOR POULTRY, GAME, 80C.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 337,019, dated IVIarch 2, 1886.
Application filed November 23, 1885. Serial No. 183,523. (No model.) I
To all whom, it may concern.-
Be it known that we, J OHN P. SoHiissLER, J12, and WILLIAM FRED'RroKs, of thecity, county, and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Suspension Clasps for Poultry, Game, &c., of which the following is a specification.
This invention has reference to an improved clasp for tying the legs of poultry, game, 850., so as to facilitate the suspending, carrying, and shipping of the same; and the invention consists ot'a suspension-clasp made in a manner that will be fully described hereinafter, and pointed out in the claim.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 represents a perspective view showing a fowl suspended by our improved clasp. Figs. 2 and 3 are respectively a detail front view and a top View of the clasp, showing it in closed position. Fig. 4 is a detail top view of the suspension'clasp, showing it in open position, and Fig. 5 a modified form of thesame.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
Referring to the drawings, A represents a suspension-clasp for tying the legs of poultry, game, &c. The clasp is made of one continuous strip of sheet metal, wire, or other material, and of such a thickness that the same is pliable and can be easily bent around and ap plied to the legs of the animal. The metal strip A is provided at one end with a loopshaped opening, I), of sufficient size to permit the insertion of the opposite end of the strip and the tight fasteningof the same to the legs of the animal. When the end has been passed through the loop, it is bent back, so as to rigidly clasp the legs, as shown in Fig. l. WVhen animal, the body of the strip may be provided with one or more suspension-eyes, dd, (shown in Fig. 5,) by which the clasp can be readily placed on a hook or point of support. The suspension-clasp may also be made of twisted wire or other material, provided that a loopshaped end he of a size large enough to permit the insertion of the body of the wire through the same.
Our improved suspension-clasp facilitates the tying of the legs of poultry or game and accomplishes the same in a neater and quicker manner. I
Having thus described our invention, we claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- A suspension device for tying the legs of poultry, game, &c., consisting of a metallic strip having an opening at one end, through which the opposite end is inserted, and a suspension eye or eyes made integral with the body of the strip, substantially as set forth.
In testimony that we claim the foregoing as our invention we have signed our names in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
JOHN P. scHt'rssLER, JR. WILLIAM FREDRICKS.
