SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 336,303, dated February 16, 1886.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, GEORGE A. ELLIS, of Gardner, county of \Vorcester, Massachusetts, have invented a new and Improved Baby-Oarriage, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

The object of my invention is to simplify the construction of babycarriages, to make them more durable, and to give them more spring at the rear end.

The invention consists in a baby-carriage having the front ends of its side bars bent upward to form springs for supporting the body at the front end of the same.

Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawing, forming part of this specification, in which a perspective view of my improved baby-carriage is shown.

The wheels A are mounted on the axles B, which are united by two wooden or metal bars, 0, having their rear ends, 0, curved upward and united by the handlebar D. The front ends of the said side bars, 0, are bent on a half-circle to form the springs H, which are held by bolts to the under side of the body E at the front end, and thus form a spring-support for front end of the body. A slender spring, F, is secured to the body at the rear The body will rock end and to the rear axle.

By forming the springs of the side bars the construction of the carriage is simplified materiall y. The side bars are braced by the bracerods G in the usual manner.

Having thus described myinvention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent 1. A baby-carriage having its Wooden handles bent up at their front ends on a semicircular line, the ends of said bent parts being secured directly to the front part of the bottom of the carriage-body, whereby said carriage-body is supported by said spring-bars at its front end only, substantially as herein shown and described.

2. In a baby-carriage, the combination, with the axles and wheels, of the side or handle bars, 0, having their ends bent up to form springs fastened to the front of the body, and of the spring F, secured to the body at the rear end and to the rear axle, substantially as herein shown and described.
