Box 418, Mexico, Mo. 65265) Filed Oct. 20, 1965, Ser. No. 498,825 Claims. (Cl. 206-81) This invention relates to various coin safekeeping devices, and more particularly to a coin case.
It is therefore the main purpose of this invention to provide a coin case which is suitable for coin collecting.
Another object of this invention is to provide a coin case which supports various denominations of coins in separated groups, so that one group of coins can be removed without having to interfere with another group of coins.
Another object of this invention is to provide a coin case wherein storage space is provided for rolls of coins.
Another object of this invention is to provide a coin case having provisions for safekeeping of coin-identifying literature.
A still further object of this invention is to provide a coin case which is easy to manufacture and provides maximum utility to a coin collector.
Other objects and advantages of this invention will be come apparent from a consideration of the following detailed description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing wherein a satisfactory embodiment of the invention is not limited to the details disclosed but includes all such variations and modifications as fall within the spirit of the invention and the scope of the appended claims.

According to the invention, coin case is provided with a cylindrical main body which is connected to a cylindrical cover 12 by means-of a hinge 13. Hinge 13 also includes a spring-like member (not shown) which is adapted to maintain cylindrical cover 12 in an open position when cylindrical coin case 10 is open. On the side Opposite of hinge 13, cylindrical main body 11 is provided with a snap-on closing member 14, which is adapted to admit insert 25 of cylindrical cover 12 when coin case 10 is in a closed position. Bottom portion of cover 11 (see FIGURE 5) is provided with a rack 15 which is adapted to hold various books and pamphlets, such as, coin collecting literature. Rack 15 is connected to the bottom portion 16 of cover 12 by any commercially accepted means. The upper portion of cylindrical main body 11 comprises a circular platform 18 having a plurality of hulls 19 adequately spaced from one another. Each hull 19 has its bottom formed of semi-spherical configuration. This type of arrangement permits an easy removal of coins from each hull 19; this removal can be achieved by tilting a coin to one side wherein the coin will slide out from hull 19 due to previously mentioned semi- 3,351,187 Patented Nov. 7, 1967 circular configuration on its bottom. In the center of cylindrical main body 11 a removable cover 20 is provided which encloses a storage partition 22 wherein rolls of coins can be stored. A divider 23 is adapted to slide within the partition 22 thereby securing rolls of coins when the partition is not filled-up with rolls. Auxiliary storage space 24 is provided for various loose coins which are awaiting classification for being placed into hulls 19. There are 4 auxiliary storage spaces, each of them being enclosed by the outer wall of storage partition 22, bottom portion 21 of the cylindrical main body 11 and the inner wall of circular platform 18.
Looking now at the drawing, one will see that hulls 19 which form tray-like storage space for sorted-out coins do not have to be of identical circular configuration as shown in FIGURE 3, but they can have various diameters depending upon size of the coins.
It will also be noted that cylindrical cover 12 can have various ornamental characters or numerals as for example, shown in FIGURE 2.
What I claim is:
1. A coin case comprising a cylindrical main body, a cylindrical cover hingedly connected to said main body, a plurality of coin case hulls circularly disposed and spaced one from the other near the periphery of said main body, said main body having a circular opening therein for providing a storage space for rolls of coins and an auxiliary storage space for loose coins, locking means to secure said cylindrical cover to said main body, and a rack secured to the bottom portion of said cover for storing the coin collection catalog.
2. A coin case according to claim 1 wherein the top portion of each of said coin trays is of a semi-cylindrical configuration the bottom portion is of a semi-spherical configuration adapted for easy removal of coins.
3. A coin case according to claim 1 wherein said circular opening is provided with a removable cover for preventing coins from said auxiliary storage space to mix with the coins located in said trays.

A coin case according to claim 1 wherein said circular opening is provided with a storage partition having a rectangular wall therein, and of said wall being secured to the circular wall of said opening, a divider panel adapted to slide within said rectangular wall, said panel arranged to secure said rolls of coins against said rectangular walls when said storage space is not filled-up with said rolls of coins.

A coin case according to claim 1 wherein said locking means include a snap-on locking device secured to one side of said main body and an insert secured to the same side of said cylindrical cover, so that when said coin case is in a closed position said locking device is adapted to admit said insert and secure it within said locking device, and releasing means on said locking device for releasing said insert therefrom when said releasing means is activated for restoring said coin case to an open position.

Claims (1)

1. A COIN CASE COMPRISING A CYLINDRICAL MAIN BODY, A CYLINDRICAL COVER HINGEDLY CONNECTED TO SAID MAIN BODY, A PLURALITY OF COIN CASE HULLS CIRCULARLY DISPOSED AND SPACED ONE FROM THE OTHER NEAR THE PERIPHERY OF SAID MAIN BODY, SAID MAIN BODY HAVING A CIRCULAR OPENING THEREIN FOR PROVIDING A STORAGE SPACE FOR ROLLS OF COINS AND AN AUXILIARY STORAGE SPACE FOR LOOSE COINS, LOCKING MEANS TO SECURE SAID CYLINDRICAL COVER TO SAID MAIN BODY, AND A RACK SECURED TO THE BOTTOM PORTION OF SAID COVER FOR STORING THE COIN COLLECTION CATALOG.
