SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 331,011, dated November 24.-, 1885.

.To all whom it may concern,.-

Beit known that I, ROBERT S. THOMPSON, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Pine Bluff, in the county of Jefferson and State of Arkansas, have invented certain new and'useful Improvements in Hoe- Raclrs, of which the following is avspecification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.

My invention pertains to an improvement in hoe-racks; and it consists in a platform having standards supporting a handle-frame, and connected by brace-bars and shi eid-pieces elevated above the platform to afford space for the hoe-blades, and in the construction, combination, and arrangement of the parts, substantially as hereinafter more fully shown and described.

In the accompanying drawings, Figure l is a perspective view of my hoe-rack, showing a hoe in position. Fig. 2 is a plan view there of, and Fig. 3 is a side elevation.

Inthe construction of my hoe-rack I rigidly secure to the platform A four standards or posts, B, two of said standards or posts being disposed at either lateral end of the platform, and connect the said standards or posts at top by means of brace-bars O, which are rigidly secured thereto, thus forming a support for the handleframe D, which is in like .manner secured to the brace-bars C by ordinary mechanical expedient. The handle-frame D consists of the corresponding longitudinal pieces b and transverse bars a, the former having curved recesses e for reception of the hoe-handles. The shield-pieces E, which are disposed longitudinally on either side of the platform A, are formed by projecting through and rivetingor soldering to the platform the vertical shield-supporting bars g. These bars are each provided with shoulders h for supporting and rigidly securing metallic disks t', having central openings adapted to the smaller upper end of the bar, and on these metallic disks the shield-pieces E are supported in an elevated position, which shieldpieces are each provided at the ends with apertures for reception of upper ends of the supporting-bars y, as shown.

are faced inwardly beneath the shieldpieces E. Thus constructed, when hoes, axes, or other sharpedged tools are placed in the rack they are not only convenient of access, but the danger arising from accidental contact therewith is avoided.

Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

l. A hoe-rack consisting of the platform A,

The hoe-handles rest in practice in the recesses e, and the blades of the hoes standards B, handle-frame D, constructed as specified, and shield-pieces E, elevated above the platform to afford space for the hoe-blades, substantially as shown and described.

2. The shield-pieces E, in combination With platform A, having shouldered barsg and disks z', for supporting said shield-pieces, the longitudinal pieces b, having recesses e, posts B, and bars O, substantially as shown and described.
