JEWELERS WATCH TRAY. No. 328,412. Patented Oct. 13, 1885.-
WITNESSES INVENTOR M ATT gums.
-invented certain new and useful Improve- UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
CHARLES A. KRON, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
JEWELERS WATCH-TRAY.
B'PECEPILCATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 328,412, dated October 13, 1885.
Application filed February 2, 1885.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES A. KRoN, of the city, county, and State of New York, have ments in Jewelers Watch-Trays, of which the following is a specification.
This invention has reference to an improved j ewelers'watch box or tray which is adapted to be used for watches of different sizes, so as to dispense with the assortment of boxes having different sizes of blocks heretofore in use; and the invention consists of a jewelers watch box or tray in which the watch-rest is made of two sections. one of which is fixed and the other adjustable by means of guides and springs, so that a watch of any size can be supported therein. The rest-sections are attached by spring-hooks, respectively,to a fixed and a sliding support at the base of the box, the sliding support being spring-acted and stopped when arriving at the end of the guidebase.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 represents a vertical longitudinal section of my improved j ewelers watch box 01' tray, and Fig. 2 is a top view of the same with lid in open position.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
Referring to the drawings, A represents the base of a jewelers watch box or tray, and B B two semi-sections, which together form a rest-plate for the watch. The sections B B are stamped of metal and covered with satin, plush, or other suitable fabric. Both sections 13 B are provided with spring-hooks b b at their under side, the section B being attached to afixed U-shaped support, 0, of the base A, while the section B is applied to a sliding support, 0, which is guided in ways (I of the base A and acted upon by a spiral spring or springs, D, which are attached at one end to the sliding support 0 and at the other end to the base A At or near the end of the guideways (1 is arranged a stop device, d, against which the sliding support 0 abuts when moved back. The support 0 is retained in fixed posit-ion on the guide-base A by being moved up against the stop at and clinching down the flanges of the guideways d d, whereby the I support is held firmly in position.
Serial No. 154,603. (No model.)
In placing the watch on the rest B B the lower part of the watch is placed against a raised cheek, 12 of the movable section B,
which is then pressed back by pressing the 5 watch on said cheek until the stem of the watch can be placed in the recessed cheek b of the fixed section B, as shown in dotted lines in Fig. l.
By the adjustment of the section B the same size of j ewelers watch box or tray can be usedfor any size of watch, as the sections are read- 7 ily adjusted to the size of the watch in the manner described. The number of watchboxes which are required to be kept on hand by jewelers can thereby be considerably decreased, while the time required for selecting a box corresponding to a certain size of watch is saved.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- 1. In a jewelers watch box or tray, the combination of a base having a fixed support and .a sliding support, a watch-rest made of support and a sliding support, a watch-rest 1 made of two sections, said sections being attached by springhooks to said supports, a spiral spring attached to the sliding support and the base, and astop for confining the motion of the sliding support, substantially as set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my invention I have signed my name in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
CHAS. A. KRON.
