' 1 Claim. (Cl. 229-15) This invention pertains to improvements in folded conical filter papers and is particularly directed to a measuring and indicating device in connection with such filter papers.

One of the objects of this invention is to provide a round disc of foldable filter paper with indicia concentric circles adapted to indicate volumetric capacity of various filled heights in the filter cone folded up from the round disc.

Another object is to provide a round filter disc with premarked volume indicating indicia which remain effective when the disc is folded to conical form.

Further features and advantages of this invention will appear from a detailed description of the drawings in which:

FIG. 1 is a plan view of the open circular filter paper disc incorporating the features of this invention.

FIG. 2 is a perspective view of the folded filter paper disc.

FIG. 3 is a plan view of the folded filter shown in FIG. 2.

FIG. 4 is an enlarged sectional view on the line 4-4 of Fig. 3.

As an example of one embodiment of this invention, there is shown a filter paper disc having the usual circular peripheral edge 11 and a center 12. One or more concentric measuring

circles

13 and 14 are printed, embossed or otherwise formed on the exposed inner surface concentric with the center 12 of the filter paper disc 10.

By particularly presenting the

measuring circles

13 and 14 as described on the surface 15 of the filter paper disc 10, the circles remain in horizontal vertical spaced position within the folded filter paper disc as shown in FIGS. 2, 3 and 4. Further, it will be noted that the

circles

13 and 14 remain continuous completely around the inner surface despite the folded over portion 15a of the filter paper disc 10, as best seen in FIG. 3, so that an amount of material placed in the filter cone can be readily determined by reference to a

measuring circle

13 and 14.

While the apparatus herein disclosed and described constitutes a preferred form of the invention, it is also to be understood that the apparatus is capable of mechanical alteration without departing from the spirit of the invention and that such mechanical arrangement and commercial adaptation as fall within the scope of the appendent claim are intended to be included herein.

Having thus fully set forth and described this invention what is claimed and desired to be obtained by United States Letters Patent is:

A filter paper disc comprising in combination:

A. a flat circular disc sheet of filter paper having B. a circular peripheral edge on said flat sheet concentric with the center thereof,

C. and at least one continuous measuring circle formed on the inner exposed surface of said flat circular disc sheet concentric with the center thereof arranged to accurately show a measured amount of material deposited in filter paper for any circumferential position of the folds of said filter paper.
