Description

TH. c.' CLARK 3,490,123
Jan. 20, 1970 v I PROTECTIVE ALUMINUM:FOIL COVER FOR STOVES Filed Feb. 14. 1967 FIG. 2
INVENTOR. HlLDEGARDE C. CLARK ATTORNEYS United States Patent 3,490,123 PROTECTIVE ALUMINUM FOIL COVER FOR STOVES Hildegarde C. Clark, 1142 Los Pulgas, Pacific Palisades, Calif. 90272 Filed Feb. 14, 1967, Ser. No. 616,111 Int. Cl. F24c 15/36; B22f 5/00 U.S. Cl. 29-483 1 Claim ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This invention relates generally to protective covering devices and more particularly to a disposable sheet of material for covering the top of a stove to protect the same from spillage of food and the like.
It is a primary object of the invention to provide a simple and effective means for protecting the top surface of a kitchen stove or range against contact with food and the like which may be spilled or splattered onto the stove.
More particularly, it is an object to provide a disposable sheet adapted for placement on the top surface of a stove to cover the same while leaving the burners uncovered for normal use.
Another object in accordance with the preceding object is to provide a plurality of disposable sheets joined along perforated tear-lines whereby a single sheet may be separated from the adjoining sheet for placement on a stove.
Briefly, these and many other objects and advantages of the invention are obtained by providing a disposable protective sheet for stoves comprising a sheet of material of a size to cover the top surface of a stove. The sheet includes at least one perforated circular tear-line defining a circular portion of the sheet whereby the circular portion may be removed along the circular tear-line to define an opening for surrounding a burner on the stove.
The invention may include a plurality of the above described sheets joined in end-to-end relation along perforated tear-lines thereby permitting a single sheet to be separated from the adjoining sheet along the tear-lines.
A better understanding of the invention will now be had by referring to a preferred embodiment thereof as illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which:
FIGURE 1 is a perspective view of a plurality of the disposable protective sheets of the invention; and
FIGURE 2 is a fragmentary perspective view illustrating a protective sheet of FIGURE 1 positioned on the top surface of a stove.
3,490,123 Patented Jan. 20, 1970 Referring first to FIGURE 1, there is shown a roll 10 of thin aluminum foil, for example, having a plurality of parallel perforated tear-lines 11 which are spaced to define a plurality of rectangular sheets 12 as shown. Each of the sheets 12 includes a plurality of circular, perforated tear-lines 13 defining circular portions 14 as will be described.
It is apparent in FIGURE 1 that the sheets 12 are joined in end-to-end relation along the tear-lines 11. Consequently, the end-most sheet 12 may be separated from the adjoining sheet by simply tearing along the line 11. A single sheet is thus provided for placement on a stove. The circular portions 14 are removable from the sheet by simply tearing along the circular tear-lines 13 to provide openings in the sheet.
Referring now to FIGURE 2, in a typical example, a sheet 12 is shown positioned on a top surface 15 of a stove 16 to substantially cover the same. The openings in the sheet are arranged to surround burners 17 of the stove so that the same may be used in the normal manner. Accordingly, the top surface 15 will be protected against spillage or splattering of food without interfering with normal use of the stove.
The roll 10 of FIGURE 1 may be mounted by suitable means on a wall so that a sheet 12 may be separated therefrom for placement on a stove when the sheet in use requires replacement.
An additional practical feature of the invention relates to the point that the circular portions 14 may be used as covers for food containers or the like upon removal from the sheets.
From the foregoing, it will be seen that the invention provides a simple and effective means for maintaining the top surface of a stove in a clean condition. Various changes falling within the scope and spirit of the invention will occur to those skilled in the art. The invention is, therefore, not to be thought of as limited to the specific embodiment setforth.
What is claimed is:
1. A protective stove covering, comprising:
(a) an elongated strip of aluminum foil wound into a dispensing roll;
(b) rectangular sheets formed by the aluminum foil and consecutively aligned with their ends joined together along straight perforated tear-lines; and
(c) plural detachable portions formed in each individual rectangular sheet, the detachable portions being described by circular-shaped, perforated tearlines.
